Update 7/17/23: I replaced my rear motor mount today. It will come out the driver side wheel well. My Transmission Control Module is on the driver side rear of the engine, and I had to remove that, along with the air filter box and a small vacuum control next to the TCM, the hose going to the throttle body, and a few bolts holding wiring harnesses. It shouldn't be so difficult to replace a motor mount. The people that design these things to be assembled outside the vehicle and installed as a completed cradle ought to have to work on them and make a few simple adjustments to make repairs reasonably achievable. Sorry I don't have any video. I'm not talented enough to hold a camera, cuss, and R&R a car all at the same time. EDIT: The manual is WRONG. You cannot get the mount past the exhaust to get the rear mount out the passenger side. I tried. It's impossible. There is simply no way to do it on an AWD vehicle w/o removing a whole bunch of stuff and taking it out the top. What a struggle!!! The repair manual says the rear mount can be removed through the passenger side wheel well. I have a new rear mount and I checked it to see if I could wiggle it into place. If the wheel is removed and the suspension is hanging freely, there is room to wiggle it through there. It would be much easier if you detached the sway bar link at the top and pushed it out of the way. Mine is an AWD Acura MDX, but it's the same as the Pilot.

Man, that sucks! The rear motor mount on my 2018 AWD is starting to wear and making a weird squeaking while the car is idling. Can’t believe that this needs to be replaced at 55,000 miles. It’s not broken but starting to wear! 715 for Honda to do it.

@kenpadgett6405 - Is your MDX just front wheel drive? I had my 14 MDX AWD at my local Honda mechanic and the rear mount intimidated him. He thought he would need to drop the sub-frame to remove it. I told him I watched this video and it was possible to remove it from the top by removing the coil packs. He told me the Honda Pilot is different, decided to decline proceeding with the job and thought my mounts had no problems. I was pro-actively replacing them as my last two cars needed engine mounts and my MDX is 10 years old. I'm hoping to keep the MDX another 10 and figured control arms, struts all around, sway bar links, sway bar bushings and the motor mounts would help keep me noise free for a while. Thoughts?

No it was a customers car I had years ago. There are already 96 other videos about the timing belt job on KZbin. I try to make videos for jobs that don't already have videos.

What were your symptoms? I'm getting a weird noise over minor road imperfections sounding like a straw being pulled out of fast food cup and one guy said that might be the rear mount

This is was a customers car. He didn't have any symptoms it was just a preventative maintenance thing at 100k miles. That noise you describe sounds more like a suspension issue to me. Sway bar links or bushings, upper strut mounts. How many miles do you have?

@@scottlanier5133 Wow I wouldn't think a mount would go bad at that mileage unless the car has been driven really hard. It's easy to check mounts tho, just pop the hood, have someone get in and start the engine. You stand out by the engine and watch how much it moves while the other person holds the brakes and cycles between park to drive to reverse and repeat. If the engine moves forward and backward excessively, then it's time for new mounts. Vibration at idle is a sign of worn mounts as well. Don't just replace the rear, because the other old mounts will put stress on that new one and cause it to wear out faster. Replace them all at the same time.

That's correct, it's just easier to film from bottom to give a better visual. 👍
