Oh come on, I am a Nico fan but I don't see anything wrong with what Lewis did yesterday. Had Lewis pushed him off track and into a wall then yeah, I would be saying it was unfair but as it is, Lewis did what he had to do. If he had sailed off down the road, Nico would have had a comfortable second place and Lewis's only hope would be if Nico had a mechanical issue, made a mistake and crashed or hope that two cars were able to attack him. Having seen how quickly Nico got away from Max when he passed him had Lewis been off in the distance, there'd have been no threat from anyone behind him. Nico has made mistakes before under pressure and Lewis put him under the most enormous pressure on Sunday in the hopes that he would crack but he didn't. He overtook Max because it was critical that he did not get stuck behind him but Nico was never going to attack Lewis, even though I was willing him on to overtake I think Nico felt like he could not 100 percent trust that Lewis wouldn't try some dodgy move to push him off the track and he could not risk going for an overtake on Lewis, making a mistake and then having Vettel and Max slip through so I totally understand why he just sat behind Lewis and didn't risk a move. And to be honest, I think Seb DID have the pace to overtake Nico in those final two laps but held back. Seb could see what Lewis was trying to do and I just think he did not want to play any part in it. You could argue that he should have attacked and gone on for the win but it was clear that if Seb had got past Nico, Lewis could have just put his foot down and dragged Seb along with him to take any DRS away from Nico which would have left him vulnerable to an attack from Verstappen and a potential 4th place finish which would have given the championship to Lewis. Lewis had more than enough left in the tank to fend off Seb and hold on for the win. And after the race in the press conference between Nico, Lewis and Seb I got the impression that Seb really was not happy with Lewis. I say that because Lewis made some very snide remarks and talked a lot about his reliability woes and the fact he got new mechanics. The conference was over for the three of them when Seb jumped in to say that Nico should be treated with respect and that no one should be calling him an undeserving champion, possibly Seb did that because he knows how it feels to have your ability and worthiness as a champion questioned. I have no issue with what Lewis did in the race yesterday but he did himself no favours with how he acted afterwards.

What Lewis did was really impressive, he was driving slow to let other guys come close to Rosberg but every time they were reaching DRS Lewis was driving away +1 second. Rosberg is a champion but Hamilton is an incredible driver, one of the best, he will be a legend. But I'm happy of Nico made his dreams to become a champion like his father. Mercedes is happy now having two champions. To be honest this was one of the best seasons in years. Unfortunately there were no clean overtaking between Lewis and Nico what really surprised me. Every time there could be a clean overtaking they had a contact (Canada, Austria).

Looking back now, Lewis did the right thing. Mercedes already had the Constructors title won, the only title that was up for grabs was the Drivers. Hamilton was the one who did the simulator work cause he was the one to develop the W04 as close to the Mp4-27 which was a beast but team blunders prevented them from winning the WCC and WDC, i doubt you even have seen the season. In 2009 McLaren fought till the last round in 2008 to win the WDC, the car was bad yes but developed it into a race winning by the Hungarian GP, you would know if you had seen the season. In 2010 Hamilton had 3 DNF two from P1 and one from P3 65 points lost and he lost the WDC by 20 points or so. The 2011 RBR simply was a beast. 2012, the MP4-27 was a BEAST but the team sabotaged Hamilton to get Button ahead of Hamilton, i don't even have to tell you if you saw these seasons but i doubt you saw them you fucking hater

lauda says that now but if he was in lewis shoes he would've done the same. lewis was hoping nico would crack under pressure and make a mistake like austin in 2015. what he did is what any multiple world champions would've done from vettel, alonso, schumacher, hakkinen, prost and senna. mercedes won the constructor title who cares if lewis is doing everything he can to retain the drivers championship that he didn't do a good enough job reclaiming. its not the mechanical failures but his poor starts is why he lost. by the time he figured out the clutch issues in the simulator it was too late in the season, he should've done it sooner instead of relying on his skill.

nysdgiants When the engineers and everyone back in Brackley get payed based on the race outcome, then that's a big deal. In 2004, when Ferrari won the constructors with 5 races remaining, did they just go "fuck it, it doesn't matter anymore"? No, they continued to get 1-2 finishes because that's what the team wants. And when your driver tries to stop that 1-2 and puts himself above the team, then that driver needs to be punished.

As a driver he did nothing wrong, but from the management side, he did. Like Toto said, that induces chaos within the team. And next year, you can be damn sure there'll be even more friction within his side of the garage.

I thought his answers were pretty real. The Mercedes camp had to issue the instructions they did to HAM, even knowing that he wouldn't comply. The only issue was whether he jeopardised his race win and VET was never going to be able to get around HAM. Could VES have got around ROS to deny him the championship? Who knows. He could certainly have taken him off the track, an that would be a suck of a way for HAM to win the championship. Niki knew as well as anyone there was no issue with tyres that was slowing HAM. That was a much weirder conversation. Funny how redundant all this is now, though.
