This has to be a modern miracle. Teenagers who play instruments like virtuosi, and that group of girls that can sing lead or harmony...and play instrument(s). And they do it all with great joy, showmanship, and an apparent lack of any ego. Thank you Joan Chamorro. I hope that like the big bands of yesteryear, your side men go on to form their own bands and keep this music alive for another generation.

This is exactly what jazz needs now: spirited, highly talented young musicians playing approachable music. Some critics will say "this has all been heard before". Yes it has but it hasn't been heard live by the new generation whose experience of jazz today is a highly abstract, undanceable, intellectual music that takes a lot to get used to. What would these critics say if they wrote about classical music? They would have to say "Don't listen to and don't play Bach, Mozart or Beethoven because they've all been heard before." Jazz used to have a happy, instantly likeable feel to it which it doesn't nowadays. No wonder young people on the whole are not interested. This sort of skill, joy and vitality that this young band radiates is what needed to bring jazz back to life.

I’ve found that the biggest thrill I get from music is when the players can project their own joy of it to the audience. This piece is right at the very top of that list. Can’t get enough of it! Joan, you’ve developed so much young talent and created so many joyful music experiences. And it keeps getting better! Never stop! Marian McPartland said “There are just two kinds of music: good music and other music.” This is the BEST kind of music!

Four facts give me pleasure: Eva Fernandez's cool way of singing, Luigi Grasso's "Flight of the Bumblebee" solo, Magali Datzira's stamina when plucking the bass and finally Rita Payés "It cannot be true" expression.

Magalí Datzira playes the bass in an very musical way! Like it very well! And ... by the way ... I like Magalí to hear playing the bass and singin' ... and back to "after you've gone": Eva and the whole band deliver so well! Great praise to all artists!!!

Every so often a musician really cuts loose and wows even the band...evidenced by the wide smiles and grins. Luigi nailed it :D
