2016 Aston Martin V8 Vantage GT Roadster TECH REVIEW

I am the son of a former V8 Vantage owner, hailing from the snowy metropolitan city of Detroit, Michigan. From a purely aesthetic point of view, I am in love with Aston's new design language, and I find it to be an improvement over the already beautiful designs they have now. However like you mentioned in the video, I am afraid that the haptic feedback "buttons" are going to bare the responsibility of controlling all of the major functions in the car. I used to have a Ford Edge which had all of its major HVAC and audio controls as haptic feedback. Half of the time they didn't work at all. What I'd like to Aston do is something similar to what Bentley does in the Mulsanne. Which is to say have physical buttons that have a glass panel over them. The effect they create is both high class and stunning without sacrificing the usability of a button.

it's colour is a homage to the old aston racing cars. I've seen it in person and it really works imo.

Welcome back MotoMan for another series. Great way to start with Aston Martin. Love their design aesthetics, luxury cabins and exclusivity. Dislike their general lag behind the supercar tech curve (ie. old platform, slugging transmissions etc). Dislike poor value for money. From Australia. Haven't owned one. Driven plenty. Love the Vantage V8. Would need a four seat GT and unfortunately the Rapide is just too overpriced for what it is.

They have most of the ingredients to pull it off: Inventors willing to spend, Matthew's chassis\handling expertise & the partnership with AMG for engines & electronics (No Lucas For You!) … however, I don't have much confidence regarding their design choices… I was gonna suggest they should hire Henrik Fisker back since he is a freelancer now & the thunderbolt is split milk under the bridge … good thing I didn't write this right after I watched the episode … Henrik is really pissed & filed a lawsuit against them today! Yep, not a fan of the lipstick or the stickers (they have no business being on an AM). As always, excellent work M! And I'm looking forward to hear all about Bose, CES & NAIAS!

I love the manual transmission, and I hope that I'll be able to spec a vanquish with a six speed manual transmission, because that would certainly make a rare and special combination for the race track. PWM, Pretoria South Africa.

I like a lot of the new lines in Aston concepts, however there is something almost sterile about them. They need something to break up the smoothness of lines and add a bit more edge and character to the cars. As for the lipstick, it could almost work, however as done looks more like an accident. The biggest travesty isn't the lipstick though, it is that stripe on the side that is neither in a complementary color nor looks like it was put there by the factory. It looks like someone bought a GT racing sticker at their Pepboys and applied it to their Aston.

I hope Aston doesn't screw up the design of the Vantage replacement, after all the design of this generation is so iconic and simplistically beautiful. Hope they don't do what Ford did with the Ford GT trying to make it look like a spaceship, they screwed up big time.

Lipstick on a pig is a little harsh but wow that is a hideous paint configuration. Reminds me why designers try so hard to restrict colour options so that customers don't combine horrible colours.

Although apparently that's a normal colour setup for the GT. It looks like a really horribly customised car. Who's paying premium money for that, I don't see any demographic who will see it as appealing?

Lipstick is horrible. Main thing I love about Astons is still being british, unlike Bentley and RR. Bentley just STINKS of VW. Motoman, it's very interesting you came from mobile development. Why did you leave? What did you do? Code? Design?

Absolutely hate the tech in the current Aston's. The SAT NAV looks horrid and the layout of the buttons. I look forward to the Mercedes internal tech. Not a fan of the red lipstick. Tried a Rapide S and it feels small inside like people say. Wish they would do a updated one with proper rear seats and better seating position.
