I had a Mini Cooper S with auto climate and it lets me turn off the a/c in auto mode. I usually just keep it in auto and let it sort things out by itself. But during the fall/winter months, I still keep it in auto but turn off the a/c. But I turn the a/c on once in a while to keep the a/c compressor lubed up.

wait so i actually had my 2011 E550 flashed with aftermarket software, though a Couple months later I flashed it back to stock becuase it just wasn't doing it for me. since then I have cleared all the codes, and whatnot, can the dealer still know? it's a naturally aspirated engine so it's not like I increased boost on a turbo or SC, so boost can't be logged.

+xxthehuskycaboosexx Yes easily. Once the computer is hooked up it can tell when when the last flash was done, unique serial of the uploaded data which can only be obtained from the MB online portal, and version code.

It is not MPGe because it is not a liquid you can not fill up a gallon with electricity besides putting it into a gallon sized battery which does not really count ! So its called MPC or Miles Per Charge because you do in fact have to charge most if not all EV's .

im sure Brian was just using Mercedes-Benz as an example but im pretty sure although they didnt really announce anything Tesla and Mercedes-Benz are working side by side at least on some projects. as Tesla's "autopilot" controls are the same found in Mercedes's products and i believe the way you turn it on is the same as you do their adaptive cruise control with radar and camera like assisted steering. so im not sure they want mercedes to die. im sure they dont want mercedes to take over their market however
@fringehouse8 жыл бұрын
ACTUALLY Ellon Musk has said he wants his success from Tesla to inspire other automakers into improving their electric car quality etc, so he DOESN'T want other manufacturers to "die". He actually said he wants other companies to out-do him; he wants the world to improve as a whole

Great show Brian. I have to admit I'm a bit let down on the Audi foray into its commercial electric car. They haven't tried to innovate or stand out with amazing specifications. It's just rather... Acceptable. I hope they use this general release as a baseline to compare a much better second gen product. Or else we might see the German car maker lose pace in the future tech field.

Missing are some things that should have mentioned on the A3 E-tron: It was already released almost 2 years ago in Europe. And still you can't find one in US dealerships as it was supposed to arrive in October. January most likely. Efficiency is bad: 86 MPGe and 16 mile AER trails pretty much all current US PHEV's. Larger full size PHEV's get about 20% better efficiency. E.g. much larger Sonata PHEV gets 99 MPGe and almost double the EV range- hybrid mpg is poor considering the car of this size. Accord and Malibu hybrid surpass this by 20%. Since this PHEV hatchback model is only one US gets I can see though people buy it just for the model and with the incentives it's priced almost the same as without.
@PassportBrosBusinessClass8 жыл бұрын
VW has no choice but to push towards EV and PHEV now after dieselgate. The market will react warmer to PHEV than to full-EV. Since PHEV can use relatively weak displacement engines as backups - VW should EASILY be able to bounce back as a "green" company.
@frankmagana14088 жыл бұрын
Its sad because diesel is so much better than gas/electric. Im not a fan of hybrids, in the long run they defeat the purpose of what a hyrbid is supposed to be, "green"

I disagree with Mr. Cooley's statement that Tesla wants "Mercedes Benz to die." Elon Musk doesn't want the competition to die. Tesla has open patents for all automakers to see and use. He wants them to develop electric cars further, hence, cooperation.

Actually... Tesla wants Mercedes to continue collaborating with them on developing the drive train and to buy Tesla built drive trains that are used in curent Mercedes EVs. I know, it's weird. I saw this on a engineer's youtube channel that bought a Tesla branded motor from a Mercedes car. He wanted to build a controller for that motor and he was saying the motors are the same and that they are developed in a partnership with Mercedes.

If any fossil-fuelled car has a competitor in its market segment with 20 miles or more of all-electric range it should be ineligible for any award for anything. All such vehicles are hazardous to the environment and therefore obsolete and also ineligible for any good or best but rating in any category.

+Torrey B i dont know if youll see it on a Porshe although i am aware VW own them but i know you can find parts with the VW logo on Bentley's like the Flying Spur and i think the Continental. then again it could just be as a symbol of the VW Group but nevertheless when you buy a Bentley thats not something you want to really see. On a side note, most car owners of that type dont do any work on their car. if they think something is wrong they tend to bring it in for a check up. sometimes even because they claim the brakes clamped on too hard yet they didnt realise they pressed the pedal harder than usual.

+Cyberslug1 you have a lusting for "range anxiety"? Both Bolt and Model 3 electric only will be sure to give you that. Expect the Model 3 to have shorter range than the Model S. Chevy Volt is the best hybrid to own right now.
@patrickpelletier63158 жыл бұрын
vh9network the volt is definitely the best hybrid i totally agree but to me i wouldnt bother buying a hybrid unless it was a sports car with a hybrid system. It works fine sure but i think they shouldnt get distracted with making a hybrid powertrain and instead make a full EV, most of us know GM can do it. Theyve done it before with the EV1 but that was scrapped for a reason they have not given an actual reason
@vh9network8 жыл бұрын
Patrick Pelletier The new 2016 or 2017 Chevy Volt looks sportier. Chevy finally took notes of people's complaints with the old Volt that looked like it was created out of a laboratory and made this new Volt look much better. Now the Bolt on the other hand, I saw that concept car and it looked dorky as the old Volt. Not sure how the Model 3 is going to look. But if Model X is any indicator ... it's not going to look so hot if they go outside the formula that was the Model S design.
@patrickpelletier63158 жыл бұрын
vh9network yea the new volt looks pretty good. The old one was a publicity stunt that they were basically forced to make but the styling when it was a concept was pretty good at least back then and it didn't vary from it that much. The Model X was that they wanted to make it look somewhat similar while still having some distinctive details (perhaps so that you can chose which to crash into if you couldnt avoid either the X or the S) the 3 will likely keep a similar face and maybe the rear aswell but they will definitely have to differentiate them or voluntarily will. It probably wont look like the X as much as it does to the S however.
