A few month ago I had 50K and I bought a regular TT with a bunch of options! I love this car! I don't understand what not to love in it. It is so perfect. I could choose a Golf Mk7 R but I prefered the style of the TT. Everybody look at me when I drive it! I don't drive fast so 230hp (Europe specs) is largely enough for me, but maybe one day I will Ecu tune it in order to have more power and torque.

The 2016 Audi TT is worth every penny!. I just bought one a week ago and couldn't be happier with the overall experience, it's fast, agile, good looks, easy(after a day or too..) to understand the nav system and respectable gas mileage. My model is the Roadster.

This is 2022 and last year I bought a 2017 TT. The price was only $27,000 and the car was like brand new and with the workmanship they build them with I'm not surprised. I spent another $2,000 and upgraded the ECU and the transmission electronics and mass air flow. I now have 330 three horsepower which is far more than the TTS and I couldn't be happier with it. I could have bought just about anything else. My last car was a used Porsche panamera. I've had every kind of muscle car and Corvettes. This is still the most fun of any car I have ever owned. It's faster than a 10-year-old Corvette and it's faster than my panamera was. I have not found anything in 8 months to dislike about the car. He did a really thorough review and I appreciate it but the TT is one of the great buys in the world. The sad part is there won't be any more. So now I've got to hunt for a 2020 or 2021 TTS in a year or two to replace mine. Or maybe this one will keep me so happy that I'll never get rid of it thanks again

For 50k us dollars, I'll probably get the upcoming Jag xe s. why - it's unique, spacious, and great to drive based off all the reviews

a 2018 Audi TT Coupe Competition Pkg is now on order and expected by May 2018. I paid 47k OTD. It took almost exactly 1yr to decide and I had a 2001 TT 1.8T Coupe Quattro in the distant past which likely influenced the overall decision. I looked at ~18 performance coupes including some more expensive and some less expensive. Some faster and some less so. Those 2018 's considered : Mazda MX5 Miata, Fiat 124 Abarth, Alfa Romeo Guilia Ti 2.0T, BMW 230 nd M240, Jaguar F Type 2.0T, Porsche 718 Cayman, Chevrolet Corvette (base), Chevrolet Camaro RS ( 3.6 V6), Ford Mustang EcoBoost and 5.0V8 GT, Lexus RC Coupe, Honda Civic Si Coupe, Nissan 370Z Sport, Subaru BRZ, Toyota 86 and a few others. I chose the TT as it is fast, economical, has sharp handling, offers some practicality, and quattro AWD is standard,. I held off on the TTS or TTRS as yes they are both quicker but 10 and 20k more expensive. I also like that you dont see many of these around --and especially so with the Competition Pkg. The BMW M240 was the close second choice.

Just picked up a 2017 TT Cab after trading a 2013 TTS Coupe. Bought a $55k car for $40k because it is 1 year old. In this case the price and car make total sense. Much better driving dynamics than the MK2 version. The tech is as he says, light years ahead. Could it be faster? Sure, but the overall driving experience is sensational. Would I have gotten a new one for $55k? Nope!

I believe that people who are drawn to this car don't really think too much about the whole power side of things, they want something that is nice and fun to drive, high tech and looks good. is 50k too much for this? Maybe. I currently drive an A3 sportback and I bought that for the same reason, in terms of power it gets the job done, it's fun enough to drive and I love it in terms of design and tech. Bottom line is I don't think this is a kind of car you could or should, compare to any form of muscle or true sports car. Personally I didn't like the old TTs, but latest generation really intrigues me.. hell, I'd actually really like to own one.

I like the styling of the car, particularly inside, but I don't care to spend the huge amount of money on the tech package for the GPS. I've price the car out to about $46k. I'm interested in how balanced the ride/handling equation is. I'm pretty sure the handling is good enough for what I need, but i can't seem to find anyone commenting on the ride with the optional 19" wheels. How well did it ride? Is it a comfortable daily driver? Thanks, always enjoy your reviews!

Great review of the TT! Super thorough. It would be a stretch for me to afford a $50K car, and if I could I would need more utility out of it than a two seat coupe, so I would go with a M235. I drove a 228 and was pretty impressed.
@ronmccord6040
@ronmccord6040 8 жыл бұрын
+scott werner how is a 235 more utility? First off it looks cheap and the base models will be loaded with secretaries and chicks. There is no base cheapie for tt. The rear seats fold down in the TT it is a hatch so way more practical, backseat sucks for both. 1g of grip in the tt, all wheel drive standard, they will negotiate so you will end up around 42k to 45k depending on features. TT looks like a mini A8, 2 series looks like well an economy car.. So in Review with TT you get a unique amazing looking car, best tech, sport car fun with Gt comfort and you even get good mpg.

I love my 2017 TT Coupe. While I like the idea of more horse, I'm more into cornering. And refinement and all-wheel drive is a dividend. (It's snowing as I write.) The plain TT (not TT-S or TT-RS) feels like it has torque vectoring, as I don't detect understeer the way I did with my 2005 S4. Does the TT have the sports differential with torque vectoring? It feels like it does.

Regarding the central pop-up screen question, I think it´s better without one, but it could use something like Ferrari is doing lately, with a discrete screen integrated on the dashboard above the glove compartment, so the passenger could set the radio, help with navigation, and let the driver just drive

This TT is really nicely sorted and beautifully designed. It's a stylish sports car with the emphasis on style. The 50K segment is pretty stacked with competitors that offer a lot for the money. I wouldn't mind owning an Audi TT, it wouldn't make me feel like I made a bad deal. The car I would like in this range will be the '17 Volvo S90. Volvo is on a roll! There is a lot of value in that car. The safety is world class, design is subtle and classy, and grade of construction materials is outstanding. A spec'd up Hyundai G90, Lexus IS, and Mustang GT 350 are very high end and one would be hard pressed to not love those cars. It seems that gap between the prestige brand and the other guys is closing very quickly. Manufacturers are forced to put out well sorted cars that push all the emotional and rational buttons.

I'm 2XL in size. New Vette is not like the old, in seating accommodation. TT feels more substantial since you actually fit in it, vs trying to squeeze into it. Also, here in Canada, having AWD for the winter is added bonus. I would be very nervous about driving a Vette in a snow storm (assuming I could find snow tires massive enough).

I have a 2015 S3 with the retractable screen. I'd like to drive a new TT to see how the virtual cockpit compares. It certainly looks amazing and very well thought out. I think Audi does this better than anybody and this seems to be their masterwork for this generation. But I like the real gauges and the ability to hide the overt computer in the S3.

+Molise Moloi I agree with the ergonomics and interior design. Just wish they would make the external design less bland: TT, A3, A4, A5, A6, A7 and A8 all have the same 'Eurobland' look from the front. Time Audi bought Alfa Romeo and inject some passion and creativity into their exterior design.

I am glad you liked my car. My 2016 TT coupe has all available options, bringing the price to $59K (Canadian). Why not GTI, Cayman, Camaro, Corvette? The answer is Quattro. If you could see what kind of winter snow I have been driving through for the past month, you would realize that the TT is a practical daily driver that is still fun to drive. I started out looking for an Audi S5 or A5, but they are 8 year old designs and will not be getting the VC tech until redesigned (2017 at least based on the A4 redesign). On the other hand, a BMW 428 X-Drive almost had me.

So to answer your 50K question, I'm looking at a C300 and the aforementioned Model 3 as my next daily driver.

+siphonsnob in my situation in ON the Cayman S would be in storage during the winter, the amount of snow we get (excluding this strange winter with hardly any snow) would not work to well with the Cayman, plus seeing it covered with snow and salt would hurt to much, but if I had the TT it would be parked for the same reason.

If I had 50 grand to spend on a car, I would get a loaded Mustang GT convertible or a loaded Camaro SS convertible. I live in Detroit, so it would be covered up in a garage now until April; however, you do see people driving them in the winter. I feel like the TT is a niche car. When it was announced that it was getting redesigned, I forgot that it existed. There's even other vehicles in the Audi lineup you can buy for 50 grand instead of this. Stylish car though. Love the front end.

I love that interior. If they put that interior in the S5, I would say sold. Sadly for me the TT exterior just doesn't work for me. The original Bauhaus design is a classic and has held up well over the years, this looks dated. That interior is so amazing though. I would have thought the Audi would have used more aluminum to get under 3,000 pounds. It's a bit disappointing on Audi's end, but as a new owner of an '16 GTI with the same engine and curb weight as this TT, I guess I'm the one winning from the whole MQB modularity.

My choice? It would be the UI of the TT, the Quattro of the TT, and the raw horsepower of a Camaro SS or a Corvette. That's what I want to buy. Since I can't have it all, I have to take the Camaro. The price is better, the performance is over the top, and while it doesn't have the virtual cockpit, at least it has Apple CarPlay (a deal breaker for me) so it's not so bad. Now if they could only do something about the blind spot in the Camaro...

I would miss the pop up screen to a certain degree, because my girlfriend usually helps me out with the GPS while I drive. And this would make it a lot harder for her to look at the map, but it's certainly not enough to sway me away from buying the car.

+chris taylor Hey Chris: The short answer: Not anytime soon. As mentioned in some previous responses, we don't feature Ford, JLR or FCA vehicles (based out of Auburn Hills) on the show. There is a very detailed response as to why we have taken this decision in our Hellcat TECH REVIEW (kzbin.info/www/bejne/iJmQq2Bmlsp4nsk) but the short answer is timely access to cars. All of the OEMs mentioned above are very bad about giving us access to their cars for review in a timely manner. This despite us working hard to come to a resolution with the communications departments. At issue is this: No matter how great of a review we put out, if we get the car too late, we will not see enough of a return to offset the cost of production. It does take us a bit longer to create our product and most OEMs appreciate that. However, some don't. That is the business reality of what we do and really do hope you understand. From a personal perspective, this is a very easy decision when talking about a C Max but MUCH more difficult when it means we can't feature the Shelby GT350 and GT350R.

+Arthur S The situation is in reverse - Ford or the others above would only provide us with a car VERY long after the vehicle has been released. Here's an example, Ford *potentially* would give us a regular (4 cyl or GT) Mustang that came out LAST YEAR now - VERY far behind . . . or more likely, they would want us to turn up at an open house giving us access to a car for about 30 minutes. As you can imagine, the episodes you see take FAR longer than that to produce. That just does not work for us and that is where the rule of life comes in - sometimes in this world, you gotta stand up for yourself - no matter who it is.

So you want a stick shift on the 2.0 petrol... I'm from the UK and I want the S Tronic on a 2.0 Diesel. What do we have in common? Audi do not make a TT with either of those. :(

The Audi TT it's great great car from the inside, I prefer this kind of the dashboard, it's very clean design and makes everything easy to the driver and that is the important thing in a car like this .. But for 50K ( equivalent 187.000 SR ) in Saudi, I will probably buy a 2016 Mustang 5.0 , or maybe a Mercedes Benz E coupe, if I can boy it in this price :) , but the Audi TT is OK. I'm from Saudi you know that:) , and I drive a 2007 Range Rover Sport.

Pop-up screen - it's a bummer if you have a passenger who wants to change radio stations, or adjust your satnav destination while you're paying attention driving. They can't see the screen very easily without craning over into the driver's space.

+Jeff K I agree. The only controls within easy access to the passenger are their own heated seat, AC controls, and the audio volume. As a matter of fact, the audio volume/mute on the console is practically inaccessible to the driver.

+Peugeot 905 The car really only starts to make sense once you get into the TTS. The regular TT while cool, just doesn't really offer much in terms of fun when you compare its price to other things. The regular TT honestly seems more like a fashion statement at its full new price. Get one a couple years old at a great used price and I can see the value in it. I hear the TTRS is a riot though.

To me, the TT has the best cockpit in the business. Tesla and the MB S/E-Class over do it with the screens. The tacked-on displays in, most notably, the Mazda's and the older MB's look like dog turds next to the new TT. Manufacturers should be taking notes. Classic dash design, seamlessly integrating new technology is way to go. It works with architecture, fashion, and auto interior design all the same.

I agree with him that people buy these cars for style. The TTS might be a different story, but it's priced against the incredible M2, so it's at a losing proposition from the get-go. Not sure how I feel about the virtual cockpit/interior as a whole. Yes, the virtual cockpit seems fancy, but it just seems like display-overload for the driver. And it renders the rest of the cabin pretty sterile and outright boring.
