This is a 13.3” 2-in-1 Windows 10 convertible with a 360 degree hinge and a 1920 x 1080 IPS touch screen. It weighs 3.68 lbs. (1.75 kg) and has an aluminum casing.
The laptop is available with Intel Skylake 6th generation Core i5-6200U and Core i7-6500U dual core, 15 watt CPUs with Intel HD 520 graphics. It has two DDR4 RAM slots and starts with 8 gigs of RAM. An M.2 256 gig SSD is standard and you can order it with a 512 gig SSD. It has a backlit keyboard and an infrared camera that works with Windows Hello facial recognition for login.

I bought this for $450 two weeks ago at Best Buy! Yep...$450 pre tax!!! (Best Buy sale, plus trade group discount, plus college discount). I love it. I do IT work and have a few spare Windows 10 Pro licenses so I upgraded mine and I'm using BitLocker. It performs very well. My criticisms would be - 1 - That USB 2.0 port. I mean what?????? 2 - The SD card slot seems idiotic. It's only SD. So you'll need an adapter card for Micro SD or a USB card reader for other formats...so yeah...what was the point? 3 - The placement of the Power and Volume buttons. Somehow, you always seem to hit them by accident. 4 - To nitpick...I really wish it was 1 pound lighter. 5- The aluminum skin can be cold on your lap at first. lol My praises would be - 1 - Backlit keyboard. This is my first experience with that and I love it. 2 - It's 2in1. I love this because I hate tablets. They're too expensive and limited. Also, I want to have fewer devices in my life, not more. 3 - I like the key travel and I actually like that the touchpad takes more pressure. My old laptop was too sensitive. lol 4 - This is easy to upgrade. Just unscrew 7 or 8 screws and you have easy access to everything you need. 5 - The SSD slot is M.2!!!! Nice! 6 - The SSD is a SanDisk z400s. Yes, this is not the 'fastest' SSD you could install...but it is very power efficient and will give you roughly an extra 30 minutes or so. 7 - The power adapter is small, light and stays cool. Also, the barrel plug connector is very slim/small. WARNING - There does seem to be some buzz here and there in various forums and on the Dell Support forum of 13 7000 owners complaining of defective USB C ports. I just spent the previous day thoroughly testing mine and so far it works fine. I suppose we'll have to stay tuned.

Thanks for that overview (but SD cards are widely used and adapters for micro sd are common and can be left inside the device (if it takes it fully)). Does it open with one hand?

Yeah, I know SD cards have their uses but it seems like a waste of space. Another USB 3/3.1 slot maybe. Does it open with one hand? I actually tried under various placements and positions to give you an honest answer. The answer....almost. Can you literally have it sitting on a desk, grab the screen and lift it upward/open with no trouble? Almost...but no. If you could use your other hand's pinky finger to press lightly down on the bottom half to brace it a bit...then yes, that can be done. The hinges are very strong, which is good because it's a 2-in-1, and I want them to last. Food for thought - mine is brand new and it's possible that in time those hinges will loosen up enough that one handed opening will be possible. I will say I don't have much trouble using one hand only with it in tablet or tent mode. My cat loves attention. As I sit on the couch I commonly tablet or tent mode with it using my right hand and my left hand gives tummy scratches.

Can you tell me what the 'model numbers' mean on these, ie, 7368 which you have here, vs. 7359, which is what's on the Microsoft website. So many numbers! Ended up with the HP because the price was reasonable for my usage. However, the lack of upgradeability and the weird deck sitting (see Lisa's review of the new HP Omen as the build quality applies to the X360) makes me wish I had gone with the Dell.

I just got the newer Kaby Lake 7378 version at Best Buy (Late 2016). Dell.com and Crucial.com only only list a pair of 8GB modules as the largest upgrades. has anyone had success with a pair of 16GB modules for a total of 32GB?

It's supposed to work but you shouldn't update the BIOS. Warning though, the memory kits are way too expensive.

How much better is this 2016 version compared to 2015 version (also 6th generation). If you get the same spec, only difference I see is the better case (aluminum vs plastic), USB C port, and extra memory slot. Here in Canada the new version costs $200 extra.

I was there, and i thought A LOOOT. I took the Dell first, for the connectivity, but the screen brightness is a real deal breaker for me...(way too dim, and color accuracy is so so). Spectre x360 is definitely appealing, but i ended up with a surface. This week you can get a 300$ discount (student + 150$ off) on the core i5, 4g, 128G. Good luck

I purchased this from Dell Canada for around 1100+ tax last month because it had all the specs I wanted for speed [I7, 256 SSD, 12 GB RAM] plus the great 2-in 1 capability. I loved everything about this computer [my screen brightness was actually great] until things started to go wrong. And did they ever. Trackpad could not do small movements , two finger scrolling did not work, the battery would not hold for more than 4.5 hours and then after a 2.5 hour remote assessment and upgrade of the entire bios and drivers, nothing really changed and the speakers started crackling. In the end, I had to return it and I've moved to the Asus UX303UB. Such a bummer

A discrete GPU will help with modeling applications. Also, if you're going to compile FPGA netlists and the like, powerful machines are worth it. As for C++, Java and all that ilk - doesn't matter that much.

for c++ a 500 laptop is fine for rendering like autocad get a laptop with at least a gtx 940

Paul H most IDEs are fancy all be it very fancy text editors that look for errors and can auto complete and some other nice functions. It doesn't use that much cpu except for compiling where. when you compile it may take a bit longer. All the IDEs that I use however need ram and if you are using Chrome at the same time you need at least 8 gigs of ram preferably 12 or 16
