I wanted to figure out if I wanted a V8 or would be happy with a V6. So I went to my local dealership last week and test drive a 2017 Challenger T/A with a 5.7L. There was no need to test a V6 :) I'm saving up my money!

The torque diff is more noticable than the hp imop.......the V8 pulls much harder.....400ft lbs with the V8 VS 268ft lbs with the V6

You shouldve done a review of the 2017 challenger RT models and that's at least 2017. Because it's 2017 that dodge put the same exhaust systems in the RT's in 2017 and the exhaust note is louder, and really sounds like a v8

4 cylinder mode only works in normal mode. If you use manual mode or sport mode, it's all 8 all the time. Also you can turn on the yellow/amber halos in the radio. Under "more" you go to safety/assistance and turn on the daytime running lights. Also there are steering settings and hil assistance. I have a basic 15 R/T, so anyone that has questions let me know. Mine isn't a shaker tho. As for the 87 gas, that's only the 5.7 with an auto, manual needs 91. You can safely put 87 in the auto, but didge recommends 89. The computer will detune itself slightly for 87.

@@jdgreen214 lol no, neither Ford or GM produced NA engines with more power than Dodge or Plymouth and is just obvious a bias opinion as opposed to reality. The 413 wedge, 426 cross ram & hemi as well as 440s, all produced big power and don't know what you're talking about. If you could just think outside the box a second, then maybe you would understand my point. Since the GN is a turbo powered car, they have an obvious advantage over the regular 6 bangers that came in the Regals and hope that maybe you will understand when put that way

@@lovethesmellofracefuelinth7374 The 455 in Pontiacs, oldsmobiles, and buick stage 1 were pretty powerfu they just didn't rev highl. I know that a turbo charged engine has advantages. When i made the initial statement i was just talking about cars the way they came from the factory. i have a 1972 442 with a 455 with roller set up that puts out 425hp and 518tq. i also have a Plymouth 68 Plymouth fury fastback with 383 super commando. My grandnational although the internals are stock with a bigger turbo, updated fuel system, and alcohol will run 11.5 in the quater. i also have a gmc typhoon with the water to air intercooler. Even though underpowered it was faster than the srt 10 in the quater mile stock. I like all cars hell I want a fox body mustang and I hate Ford products. I guess I'm liking the cars I grew up with.

I love American Muscle but v8s just don't fit my lifestyle. I live in Atlanta with lots of traffic & I drive a lot. V8s are heavier, worse gas, and manuals are too much for this stop & go traffic. But more power to the guys who drive those real cars. V6 is enough for me

The hood scoop reminds me of those on the Pontiac Trans Ams from the 1970's that I've been fortunate to experience and own. I want one of these Challengers but like many of us, the price, even for a used one seems to be too much. I'll have to get my horsepower rush from some other car, if at all.

I have a 2019. First race and chase with a turbo duel exhaust 6 cylinder honda. Quick car but, not much on the bottom end. I am looking forward to racing a 2019 5.0 mustang. Nice car. Its a gt and rolls good. But he will have his hands full with this car.

@Dog King The 5.7L I bought back in 2016 had a few bolt ons on it. Headers, Throttle body, CAI, headers and a tune. I beat the ever loving shit out of that thing and it never let me down other than the starter going out. My 392 was 1 owner by an older gentlemen, serviced by the same dealership on a regular basis, BONE stock. It spun a rod bearing after 1 oil change. The new engine is just hitting the 2000mi mark.

In reality, in anything an 1/8th mile or less, the 5.7 isn't really any faster than the V6. Certainly not 6 grand worth. If you wanna go fast, get a 392.

Only 1 second faster than the 3.6 V6 in the quarter mile......fast but not that much faster. My 18 RT does 0-60 in 5 seconds flat, my best time. My 2016 SXT PLUS 3.6 V6 went 0-60 in a best time of 6.2 seconds. Both bone stock.
