2016 Harley-Davidson 48 [Forty-Eight] VS 2015 48

New 2016 Harley-Davidson 48 "Forty-Eight" Sportster. Take a closer look at the bike as a do a walk around and explanation of the new features released on the 2016 model year. I also start the bike up and do a comparison to the 2015 model.
The Forty-Eight was First introduced during the 2010 model year. It has been a favorite since then among Sportster Riders. Harley-Davidson motor company did a lot this year to improve the over-all ride comfort and the aesthetics of the bike.

William White They aren't factory installed but a lot of dealers will install them during the setup. We do at my dealer.

I have the 2015 Sportster 48. I'm 6' and 215lbs. I have zero complaints about the suspension and ride. Even the seat is very comfortable. To me, the 2016 lost a little of what I love about the 48. I threw some white walls on mine. Looks amazing with the spoked wheels. The exhaust on the 2016 looks "riced out." I would choose a different bike just based on the look of the exhaust. And although the wheels on the 2016 nice looking, I feel it's not true to what the 48 was. The 48 is supposed to be a throwback retro bike. The 2016 definitely lost the throwback feel. That's my 2 cents.

I have 2015 48 and definitely like it more than 2016 model, the only thing I would like from the 16 model is the HD emblem from the tank :)

Agree. I also like the air filter.. i have a 2015 and found a 2016 air filter box. Gives a more retro look.

They changed few things on it that I did not like. I've sold my 48 and moved on to better things.

+ml414skidoo Sorry Your comment got erased. I never noticed the bracket that comes off the back of the seat was different from the 2015 but you're right. Maybe the hole pattern on the rear fender is different from the 2015. Maybe they moved it back so they could put on that shotgun hole bracket, I don't know. There is a second hole to screw in a 2-up seat if you're riding with a passenger.

The position of the mirrors look ridiculously stupid. That being said, I do like the 2016 48 and it's overall design. The colors are cool too. This is the only Harley that I would ever buy. But I'd rather spend my money on a Indian Scout or the new Victory Octane. Maybe, I'd consider the HD Slim S in military ID green or a Victory Gunner in green as well. Decisions...decisions...lol

+zeallistic My problem is that the models called a "48" based off the year 1948. They were running wired wheels back then. Im assuming the old spoked wheels can still fit in these new 2016s so shouldnt be an issue for ur purists. lol

Luciana Ramos I don't think so because they beefed up the front end in 2016 to a 49mm front fork. You'll probably have to make some other modification to get it to work. It won't just bolt on though.

The 2016 is much better. A friend of mine has the 2015 and he even says the 2016 is much better. His bike doesn't have a digital clock, seat is better looking than the 2015. And other details. ( this is my personal opinion).

Harley Davidson is doing a hell of a good job on the bikes now a days .....only thing that sucks is that ....why is there alot of dentist, doctors and lawyers at the dealer man ??? They are giving HD a pussy rep. with those Sunday riders! these motorcycles are gorgeous though !!
