Haha I said this about the BMW 335d, bought it three years later used - you’ll buy what you thought wasn’t in your reach sooner than you think. Unfortunately no one tells you you shouldn’t meet your heroes. You’ll be disappointed and buy a Honda sport bike as well.

Mr. Regular I got a 2011 V6 automatic coupe a few months ago as a first car, and they are simply beautiful to drive. Even the Auto transmission still lets you rev it to hell and back and the paddle shifters are there if you want to use them. As you said its a very comfortable and logical car that can be treated as a commuter or a sports car, its quite a fun ride. Best part is my dad thinks its a normal Honda in great shape which is what sold him on it. :)

**Long rant post** I impulsive traded mine after letting bullies get to me about not having: RWD, a NA V8, and 400+ HP. What car was it, you ask? A 2010 Chevrolet Camaro 2SS manual coupe…. Yeah, I went from a 2015 Honda Accord EX-L (w/ navigation) V6 manual coupe to that. Huge difference. One of the only things I like in my currently still new Camaro, is that there’s no wind noise in the interior. I would sure hope so, for a car that easily costed $30k+ MSRP back in the day. Granted, by the time I traded my 9th gen (13-17) Accord V6 recently, for a NOS (new old stock) 5th gen (10-15) Camaro SS, my Accord had about 132k miles. The clutch was starting to slip with super quick redline shifts, or when launching (a bit) off the line at more than ~2.5k RPM. The pressure plate was also starting to have issues, since I replaced the clutch pedal’s master cylinder, and it didn’t fix a sticking clutch pedal issue during hard pulls. Aside from the worn clutch and pressure plate from 3 prior owners before I bought it around ~91-92k miles, it still had the clutch delay valve (CDV) when I had gotten the car, and 2nd gear would grind infrequently when shifting at redline. I later figured that the slave cylinder wasn’t bled all the way. Manual transmission fluid/gear oil was also dirty and worn, and also looked a bit metallic…. And yes, I did find 2 or 3 used/salvaged transmissions for sale, but one was a 2017 6MT with 42k miles, and the other two were 2016 6MT’s; one with 112k mi and one with 83k mi. The 2016’s went for $2300-2400 before shipping costs, and the 2017 went for around $2750 before shipping. I had gotten a replacement clutch and flywheel kit from Rock Auto, and all sorts of other parts for the car, but eventually gave in…. I had a fair amount done to the car. I regret trading it… It sold only after 2 days of being put out onto a huge dealership lot. You know how 6/6MT hunters be watching and tracking and skimming the internet car listings like hawks and vultures. Lol

In 2020, my old car was wrecked. I looked to RCR to find...The One. The car I would essentially "marry". I found 2 Accord 6MT's -- one in Ohio, one in New Jersey. I drove my POS base model Jeep Cherokee rental to Avenel, NJ and bought a bright red 6MT without even touching the seat. The dealership kept trying to shmooze me and give me the whole "experience". I threw money at them just to leave me alone and let me take the fuckin' car. God, they were hateable. I hadn't drove a stick in at least 5 years, and was terrible at it. I learned how to drive all over again on the ride to Mountainhome, PA. I was smitten. It's the best car I've had yet. Yes, it sometimes squeaks, rattles, makes weird harmonics at different RPM, has front drive terminal understeer, the E-brake fails, locking the rear calipers, but... It always gives back. It's my Christine ❤

all it takes is an intake cat deletes full 3 inch exhaust 91 octane fuel and a good tune they will make over 300hp at the wheels although becomes somewhat useless because i believe the accords never got an lsd they reserved those for the Acura TL 6spd fwd manual transmission. certain years and models like type s or something i don't remember it's been a while. the accord v6 6spd manual is the vehicle i regret not buying back when i bought my 2013 si new. they had both on the lot and the accord was only stickered for something like 1600 more than the Si. i however did not get the accord because at the time the J series weren't getting much aftermarket support. it took quite a while for tuning solutions to even become available. so I went with the Si because they usually have support right from the get go. wound up selling the Si later on after lots of messing with it and tuning. wound up making something equivalent to 270hp at the crank but still couldn't touch the accords nearly stock because they had gobbs more torque and at the time i couldn't afford boost. also fun note. back when i worked at the Honda dealer an accord coupe came in with something like 1800 miles on it. basically needed an engine rebuild because the kid driving it eventually fessed up and said he miss shifted from i think it was 5th gear going for fourth and wound up in second sheered off the cam gears and the pistons smashed the valves into the head i think it was a something like a $4800 f-up. kid said he was just driving and the engine just "shut off on him" the cam gear sticking out of the timing cover said otherwise lol

@@kiryukazuma2158 generally, a V6 of this nature making that amount of horsepower requires 93 (or 91) octane fuel to boost performance and keep down engine knock. For example, my 06 G35 6MT is capable of running 87, 89, or 91, but the engine was designed to make 296hp with 91 octane. Any less, and both fuel economy and performance drop noticeably in order to keep the engine running safely.

I have an '04 version of it (3.0L 240 HP) but even that goes like a bat out of hell when I heave on the accelerator. One thing though: it doesn't rev the same way as it would with a DOHC, it just doesn't. When I pre-rev the engine for switching back gears (usually into 2nd gear), then I have to do that half a second earlier in this Honda than when I did it with the DOHC four-banger in the Acura I test drove before I bought the Accord Coupe. That engine revved up authoritatively; this does it under duress, compared.

His piece about finding one of these on a used car lot reminded me of the best deal I ever got on a car. It was a new-old-stock 2007 Mazdaspeed 6 still on the new car lot well into 2008, which ONLY came with a manual transmission (which is awesome). The salesman started with the whole "this car is special" schpeel... obviously trying to prime me up to pay top dollar for it. My response was "yes, so special and so specific that in a year and a half, the right person still hasn't come along and bought it". I actually got him to admit that people didn't know what it was and weren't willing to pay a $10K higher sticker over a standard Mazda 6. Not only did I get $8K off the sticker because I knew they were desperate to dump it and he knew it, I also traded him my 2005 RX-8 and got $15K in trade value for something that would likely end up being a non-functional hunk of steel and plastic bits in only a short matter of time (it had 32,000 miles on it and was already on engine #2). As much as that was a driver's car, a head turner, and fun as hell to drive, I knew mechanically it was shit. I eventually sold the Speed 6 after many years of joy when it just started getting too expensive to keep up (we are talking like European level maintenance and repair costs, as it had 100% Japanese parts in it, unlike any other Mazda which shared alot of parts with Ford). But that's a story for another day. But Mr. Regular's rendition of how a salesman would treat this absolute gem of a vehicle that is the Accord V6 Coupe 6MT was spot on, because I lived it in a similar scenario. While this Accord and the Speed 6 are two entirely different vehicles, they share that common thread that most people don't know they are special. But those who know, KNOW. I actually enjoyed that "sleeper" quality in my Speed 6. And when I took it to an All Japan car show, all the rice boys with their suped-up Evos and STIs barely batted an eye. But the Mazda race team that was there...they knew, and they appreciated it. I also kept it bone stock. The kid who bought it off me said mine was the only bone stock example he could find in the Northeast...and I believe him.
