We just acquired three weeks ago the 2016 F Sport NX 200TSUV that have that engine. It feels good!! The first Toyota with small engine Turbo 235 HP 258 pounds torque. Great vehicle in their class. We saw the Volvo Cross Country, road tested the Audi Q3 and the NX, and my wife opted for the F Sport ( its for her use). Have a lot of little details and features for a pleasant drive. Thanks for this video

You didn't talk about ride comfort. Why do all Auto journalists only care about performance? It's like they get in a Lincoln Navigator and say "it doesn't grip the corners when you are canyon driving so don't buy it". I just want a highway cruiser and it's hard to find good reviews anywhere.

Well sir, just about ANY monstrous V-8 vehicle can deliver that. It truly has been done for like what 80 years? What has not been done for 80 years is 200 HP outta 4 cylinders so I would say PERFORMANCE leads the pack by a Far Cry. Had loads of ride comfort vehicles in my day, so Performance in a small package rates highly in my book.

I love how the heated steering wheel is a "feature to avoid". When I bought my IS350F, I was thinking that was a waste of an option also. Now, I am rocking my heated steering wheel for my dainty hands when my hands are the slightest bit chilled. I too have lanky arms and in Buffalo NY, our winters are long. Soooo nice. Great vids!

I work at Lexus and drive these cars every day. Let me tell you this. The car drives very smooth and is a great daily driver. It's a great car to hang out in and the features it has are pretty cool. Other than that, it's not the best looking car and it's really slow. But I must say the price for that car is spot on.

"Faster" yet still gets crushed by the 328i, A4 and C300. Actually, those three cars pretty much match the IS350. But, I'm glad you don't sit there and incessantly compare cars to their competition. That is seriously annoying when reviewers like Redline Reviews and Fast Lane Car compare every feature and measurement to the competition throughout the review. I'm glad you strictly discuss the car you're reviewing and you do so intelligently.

This is the first time Toyota has implemented forced induction to their luxury sedans. The performance has been improving tremendously over the years and I can guarantee over the course of this model's life, it'll crush its competition.
@senorgato70
@senorgato70 8 жыл бұрын
Ivan Koshy Well, sorry to say, but I just don't see it. They've been around plenty long enough to build engines that can beat their competition, but for some reason, they just can't do it. And performance "improving tremendously"? That's just not a fact.
@hgmailcom
@hgmailcom 8 жыл бұрын
senorgato70 Don't forget, this is still the most reliable brand in the industry. That still holds more important than the niche market of car enthusiasts wanting a lightweight RWD 300+ hp. The German competitors can always slap on extra boost at the cost of reliability because nobody expects much for the longevity. With the new CEO at Toyota, however, they're making their way to creating more agile vehicles. That and Toyota is also adopting the hybrid system and using turbos. Also it's not a stretch to say the company has some of the finest, well-built engines in the industry. It's all a matter of configuration and set-up at this point.
@senorgato70
@senorgato70 8 жыл бұрын
Ivan Koshy Right, not really. Their engines continue to underperform. End of story. And the reliability argument is an absolute farce. Without the overpriced Avalon, aka ES, and without the overpriced RAV4, aka NX, Lexus wouldn't be much more than Acura in terms of sales. Yes, their RX is a juggernaut but it also starts at least $10k less than a GLE or X5. But, in direct comparison, the IS doesn't even comes close to the 3 or C. The GS isn't close to the E and 5. The LS is nowhere near the S and still behind the 7. And the GX doesn't come within spitting distance of the GLE or X5. So, despite the Germans' supposed lack of reliability, they absolutely trounce Lexus.
@hgmailcom
@hgmailcom 8 жыл бұрын
That's my point though. They underpowered their engines to reduce stress on the cylinders. Comparing the IS 250 from last year to this years IS200t it got a nearly 40 increase in horsepower and reduced its weight. That's a dramatic performance upgrade. If you remember last year, Motor Trend raced the M4 and the RC-F. The M4 being a dual clutch with forced induction, greater torque, less weight, lower suspension and 10k more in cost did just .3 seconds faster on Laguna Seca. Now in comparison the RCF sounds better with it's NA V8, is more reliable and will hold its value much better. You tell me which is the better product. As for the rest of its vehicle lineup, Lexus has branched off to become more performance oriented. It started with the ISF, now we have the RCF, GSF, LC 500 and more to come. Along with the knowledge they've gained on creating the LFA with their newfound use of turbos and batteries, the future is bright for this brand.

The IS200t is the only model offered with RWD which is one very good reason people might choose the base. Also the RWD model also is the only model offered with the better shifting 8 speed automatic. If the IS200T ran to 60 in the high 5 second/low 6 second range it would be my choice.

I tried building an IS350 the same as my 200t F sport and its a big difference in price so I have no idea what you are talking about. You also must baby that IS200t because regardless of how I drive I average in the 19 - 20 mpg range. I also have the found a way to really help with the lag of the dbw and turbo with a throttle booster and f sport filter. The car is amazing in manual mode with the traction control ON. I would be fish tailing too much otherwise. I also can get the car to drift/kick out in corner turns too easy sometimes but I blame the tires being used. Never had a car with great stock tires so why would this car be any different. The sound system could be better for the level of car. The only reason it sounds good is the number of speakers it has and the sizes used. No matter the perceived flaws or draw backs it is the best car I have ever owned and its a blast to drive. I get all this with the Lexus quality and level of customer service that goes with it. Subaru cant compete with that.

Great review thanks ma man ... I really loved the new IS and test drove the IS250H which is the only one we get here in Finland. I was quite impressed with the E-CVT and did not feel that it was boring or annoying at al. The only thing that stopped me from buying the car was the tiny cabin size ! I mean, I am quite average height at around 176cm and I found the cabin so cramped sitting there that I felt like a giant. The center console has a very weird outward design that kept hitting my right knee and annoyed the hell out of me, would love to know your views on that and if you found the same issues I did. There is ONE IS200T which is imported and it is tempting me now to go and check it out and maybe give it another chance. Earlier I ended up getting a 2013 Seat Leon FR (1.8TSI 7DSG 180hp) and the last year has been a joy to drive but now it's time for a change

I recently had one of these for the day as a loaner while my 2007 IS350 was getting recall work done by the dealer. The first thing I noticed compared to my previous IS250 loaners was the much better brake feel. Can't stand factory turbo setups. I always seem to get lag when I least want it. Love the tech features but I'll stick with my old 350.

I'm buying a 2017 IS200t today! So stoked! It's gray with the red leather interior. I never really loved the front end of the 2014-16 models, but I love the improvements Lexus made for 2017 such as the new front end, the larger 10 inch display which looks amazing as well as more stitching & better looking buttons on the steering wheel. It's replacing my 2015 Toyota Camry XSE V6 & should be a huge improvement overall. I've been seeing used ones for very attractive prices lately probably cause sedans aren't in very high demand right now as most everyone's buying SUV's & I don't need one since I don't put much stuff in my car.

I will give you a good reason why you would go for the 200T vs the 350. The 350 is not sold on numerous market. He's absent from France, not available in Germany, and not in Switzerland too. Some peoples are importing those cars from abroad, shipped through the ocean. The 200t stays the only car available on numerous markets. Recently, the ISF was also cancelled. An other reason is that a lot of countries are starting to have very tight regulations about emissions. I'm in one of those. We are paying, every year, a tax. We call that our "plate tax". It allows us the right to keep our plates on and drive on the street. Those plate taxes are calculated on the kw/h of the car and his weight. The more you have of any, and the more you will pay. The difference between the 350 and the 200t makes around 300 us dollars a year. So, in the 5-9 years you will use your car, the 200t will be considerably cheaper in those costs than the 350.

The is200t is the best option for places where import laws cap off at 2.0, and anything other than a 4cyl is super expensive.

Beautiful car. See this thing on the road and it always catches my attention. Love that blue paint too. I cant wait to see what they can do with the new turbo motor over time. The new Lexus turbo 4 are built really good they feel and driver super refined. Its a new platform over time Lexus will improve alot on that motor.. just like BMW did with the 335i engine over the years.

Toyota4life I guess you're a turbo fan as long as it's in a Toyota or Lexus lol. it's sad that the new 2.0t Accord will smoke this car. Even worse the 1.5 L will almost tie it in acceleration.

No mention of the 200t only being avaliable in RWD. You have to step up to the IS300 to get AWD. Will you do the 2016 Q50?

Maybe it is easier to make it faster than is350? Stock turbo cars are usually easy to just chip the ecu like 335. I can't imagine 400 hp q60 twinturbo

My speed3 Bridgestone tires rated 280 (which is fast wearing summer tire) but I got 30k, surprising! I changed to Bridge 970 all season rated at 480 (40K tires). My next set will be Mich Pilot Sports.

Notice through out the video that the engine cant seem to figure out if it wants the torque converter to be locked or unlocked when he's cruising in auto OR if the transmission is just shifting back and forth between gears over and over. Kinda sketch for a Lexus that costs that much money.

Had one as a loaner while my IS-F was getting serviced. Interior feels pretty cramped in comparison to the 2013 IS......I'm not a huge fan of what they did with the entertainment system/HVAC controls, you have to go through all these menus just to get to where you need to be. Power wise....well, it's not my V8................it does the trick, but you won't be able to run with the big boyz if that's your thing. Overall, not a bad car, I'd rather buy a 2018 Camry XSE V6 or a Highlander.

Regarding 4:51 - When I tested an IS 300 F Sport, I thought the gear changes were fairly quick (certainly faster than my Camry lol). Maybe it's the 8-speed transmission?
@ARentz07
@ARentz07 7 жыл бұрын
Also, just watching the video you can tell a huge difference between the sport mode shifts (a few seconds later) compared to the normal mode shifts, something that also is true in the lowly Camry that I own as well as the IS (when testing it, I pretty much kept it in Sport).

Price is negotiable and shouldn't be considered when comparing vehicles. If you go into a dealership and pay retail for a vehicle nowadays, something is very wrong.

Exactly, plus cars depreciate so fast within the first couple of years, the smarter guys wait until they depreciate. Using sites like Cargurus.com and searchallofcraigslist.org, can point you to crazy good deals, although it might be a little bit of a trip :P.

Toward the end I noticed a speed 65 sign. When'd Oregon finally get around to raising that?
@ianirwin1237
@ianirwin1237 7 жыл бұрын
It just happened if I remember correctly. When I was there I think it was still 60 MPH max. However, after spending like an hour one night nerding up speed limit sign historicals, I remember seeing that they finally raised it. I believe it's only in certain parts, and even still, people are not happy about it. Also, Texas has an 80 MPH sign now. And to further nerd it up, I was on a road trip in Key West and they had "night time" speed signs under the "day" signs.
