The 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV improves upon its predecessor in every respect. A boost in performance, refinement, and emissions makes for a tempting proposition over the diesel which costs an identical sum. Power for the PHEV comes from a 2.0 litre petrol engine and two electric motors. In EV mode the cars range is 32.5 miles. 156 MPG is claimed and this 4x4 SUV emissions are just 42 g/km CO2.
With seating for five and plenty of partiality, not to mention all wheel drive, the 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV benefits from more than just a facelift.

Just got one today, driving in EV mode is so smooth and quiet and we had nice drive home from the garage about 22 miles on electric all the way. Having traded in a top range Audi today the general feel is very good indeed.

Excellent PHEV ! I like very much ! Amazing standard equipment and technology ! And excellent S-AWC (SUPER ALL WHEEL CONTROL) This integrated control system, only available from Mitsubishi Motors, delivers incredible power and control. By optimally managing AYC (Active Yaw Control), ABS (Anti-lock braking system) and Active Stability Control (ASC) with Traction Control (TCL), it brings out the full potential of Twin Motor 4WD without compromising safety, comfort or fuel efficiency. When desired, you can press the 4WD LOCK button to simulate locking of a centre differential and optimally distribute torque to all four wheels for improved traction and stability. Twin Motor 4WD High-output motors separately mounted at the front and rear axles instantly supply torque on demand for incredibly responsive yet smooth 4WD performance. Very spacious car! Lowered seating, flat floor! Heavy weight, thanks to the technology and economy , which it itself contains, driveability of the car concerned.

One very important omission. Spare wheel and tools to do the job. Worth having when you are in a hurry, conditions bad and fare from help and home.

Hi, wondering if I should pick up this one over the 2014 one, which costs me £3200 less?

Depends. I had the older one and I hated how it looked,, it just looked cheap and not stylish at all. The face-lift 2016 onwards models are vastly superior in every way really.

What's the exact engine size? 2001cc + and I get 19p per mile towards my fuel, 2000 and below it's only 12p. I can't find the figure anywhere.

Wouldn't it then have possible DPF issues if used mainly off the motorway?

It has a CVT.

It's somewhat confusing but the car has no transmission in a traditional sense. The gear ratio is fixed and the engine is connected to the gear only on the top speed.

No there is no CVT, at 70 ish a clutch is engaged, linking engine mechanically to the front wheels, I'm guessing via a single speed transfer box.
