Did you lose any radio settings when no power was present t for the short time between old out & new in?
@Batman8252 жыл бұрын
Good Question, I never listen to the radio. I always use my phone or a thumb drive full of songs. So I don't know.

Just in case anyone else was wondering, I installed my new battery in a 2014 Ultra Classic, & the radio stations & all other settings were saved. My bike has optional upgraded radio with navigation like the Limited has.

I have a 2010 ultra classic and when I went to pull the battery out the strap broke in half. Any ideas on how to replace that?
@Batman8252 жыл бұрын
Maybe pull it out with vice grips on the negative terminal?

So you're replacing a 2-year old factory Harley Davidson battery. Wow. I guess I'm lucky I got 4.5 years out of my factory battery on my 2017 :)

Did you have to do anything with the alarm system? I saw a post a few months ago where a guy replaced his battery and then he couldn’t start it because the alarm system was affected.
@Batman8253 жыл бұрын
I've never heard that before. Shouldn't have to do anything. I've changed multiple batteries and never had an issue.

I just took my battery out on my 16 road glide special, after I disconnected the negative, the alarm went off, kept going every 30 seconds for around 5 minutes, stopped by itself. I had the fob close with me ,hopefully it starts ok when I put the new battery in.

Would you be able to tell me why you replace the battery. I would assume a Harley battery would last longer than a few years.
@Batman8256 жыл бұрын
In Arizona the heat kills batteries. They usually last about 3 years. I replaced it because I would ride it for a 1/2 an hour, stop to get gas and it had a hard time restarting. When I put the new battery in it starts right up. I could tell the battery was going bad.
@stephenkellar88865 жыл бұрын
How you maintain your battery while it's in your motorcycle has a lot to do with how long your battery will last. Keeping your battery on a battery tender and not letting it run down is vital in long battery life. If you don't run your bike for a few days, put on the battery tender. Remember that the radio and computer components are still using the battery even when you aren't riding it. Also, it's important to use a dielectric grease on your battery terminals to keep them corrosion free.

@@stephenkellar8886 Just pulled my tender off before trying to start the bike - and battery nearly dead. 3 year old battery. I agree that it helps - but heat if FL probably shortens the life.

That’s weird in Pennsylvania that tell us the cold kills batteries but I get at least 5 years out of one. It’s plugged into the tender from November till March except for maybe 5 or 6 rides if I’m lucky

Not sure what to tell you? I'm assuming that the screw is too long? Maybe add a washer on the screw and try that? Are you compare the screw on the new battery to the old one and maybe try that one?
