That TMO decision was wrong - the ball was not in control, there was no downward pressure and it was knocked on. Earlier the ref had penalised the oxford no 10 for a high tackle that was nowhere near, and for holding on when he had no hands on the ball.

Strang's tackle was over the shoulder and slipped up around the Cambridge player's neck, contact above the shoulder is considered a high tackle, intentional or not. You only need to exert downwards pressure if the ball was already on the floor (for example, after being kicked over the try line), if it was carried over, the ball only needs to touch a blade of painted grass while the player is touching it, however lightly. Anything after the moment of scoring is irrelevant as the score ceases play, you cant loose control or knock it on after play has stopped.
