2016 Suzuki Baleno GXL Turbo (1.0L 3CYL) 0-100km/h & engine sound

Ok, I own one. 1. It is a six speed automatic. It is a conventional auto and not a CVT. The gearbox is really great. This is from someone who generally hates automatics.2. My car is now at 6700kms since new. I drive it 142kms per day on my country road commute. Not the greatest roads.3. The best economy I have achieved is 4.9L/100kms, more common to achieve 5.2L/100kms. 95% of my daily journey is in 100 and 110 zones.4. The engine is amazing! It never lacks for performance in 100 or 110kmh speed limit zones... just set cruise and enjoy. On the biggest hills it may drop to fourth gear to maintain the set speed.5. When overtaking it is effortless and surprisingly quick.Things I don't like...1. Fuel tank is too small at only 37 litres. But the economy means it still gets a decent range. Commonly around 560kms before fuel light comes on.2. Even with the premium speaker upgrade the audio is not superb. It needs an amplifier and better sound deadening. N.B. I am fussy with my audio to be fair.3. It can feel a little skittish at times, due to its light weight, on less than perfect roads. 185 size economy tyres do it no performance favours... apart from perhaps fuel economy.Other than that it is a great little car and I am glad I bought it when compared to other vehicles, bottom of their range, at the same price point.

Also I have the same car. I agree with you. But what do you think about the brakes? I do not find them at the height of such a brilliant car and I can not wait to change them.

Seems ok for a little 1.0 3cyl. At least it seems quite smooth for a 3cyl which are usually anything but.

What kind of automatic is it? It sounds like a manual. My GLX is a 1.4l normally aspirated one with a 5spd. manual. It's 60kg lighter and only needs 4.5l of 91 octane at 100km/h on the motorway. Performance is similar. When I'm drafting a truck at 90km/h, I can get just under 4l/100km. Great car!

Such a cute little car. I am disappointed by 9.67s for 0-100 though.. oh well. I don't know why the 1.0T is 70kg heavier than the 1.2 aspirated, which is a damn pity, it'd be much quicker off the line if it didn't weight close to a tonne. Having said that, it's still 150-200kg lighter than a Skoda Fabia or Polo, which all have about the same PS. Looks like a great car TBH. I wonder if alloy wheels would lighten it appreciably over the stock steels.

crash test rating is the main concern, it came out euro 2 stars only if the vehicle is without Radar Brake Support (Suzuki's own take on collision-prevention auto braking system), despite having 6 airbags as standard...looks like the Indian plant has some serious manufacturing cut in the process, what a shame for a potentially big seller......now Vitara or Swift would be the only safer choices.

Its 3 stars without and 4 stars with radar brake (Euro NCAP) - the test is new for 2016 so you cant directly compare to older tests and cars.
