I love this car. Probably a little too much. I guess I'm biased. I've driven Camrys for years and I think their great little cars. Here's my review of the 2016 Toyota Camry SE. Let me know what you think.
And for anyone counting, this is car number 29! Uggg, getting to 100 is going to be a lot more work than I anticipated.

This car gets 3 stars for features and overall driving dynamics, it gets an extra star for reliability and resale value.

I agree. I don't think most people NEED all the bells and whistles that come with most of the cars I review.

@Mike P Haha!! That's awesome!! Just goes to show how much of a rip off half this crap is. Especially when you wanna bring it into a shop. You bring it in for one thing and they charge you an arm and a leg for another. As for that Yelp review dont take it personally. Sometimes people cant handle the truth cause it hurts too much. We dont always need all the bells and whistles cause once it breaks...its a pain to fix. The fact you were able to figure that problem out on ur own for way cheaper tho...I give you all credit in the world! Thats impressive.

It’s also easier to steal. Especially the one where the doors unlock when the key is near. Have you heard about all the challengers getting stolen bc of that?

I bought the 2017 Camry RZ for my Dad as his retirement car. He’s always had big Aussie 6 cylinder cars so I was a bit unsure whether he would like it or not. It’s a brilliant car in so many ways, there are a few things I don’t like but they are far outweighed by the huge amount of things I love about it. Dad absolutely loves it too and that’s what counts 👍

I brought the 2016 Camry SE back in 2015 and I still love it. It's a reliable car, which mean it's not fancy. The Bridgestone tires that came with it wore out in less than 20,000 miles!!!! I brought some General Tires and I bet I'll get 40,000+ driving in PGH (4 season city)!

Nice review. I've rented a Camry before as well and after seeing all the reviews of it being vanilla and not sporty in the midsize sedan world it was nice getting in an not worrying about sport mode or economy driving modes, it just did it drove fine and had seats that were relatively comfortable. Surprised to see what reviewers will say about the new Camry. Looking forward to your review of the 2017 Traverse. I consider this set of GM vehicles large wagons or wannabe minivans rather than an SUV. Cheers to 29 rentals thus far!

+TJ HAMMERSLAND Thanks for the kind words TJ. I totally agree about all the "modes", I just want to get in and drive. I want the manufacturer to pick eco or sport or whatever for me. And I'm working on the Traverse review now. Just give me a few more days to put it together. Cheers!

People make jokes about the Camry. It’s a very enjoyable car, nice to drive, smooth ride. Does what it was meant to and is reliable. There are more fun cars, and there are far less enjoyable cars.

Well said Mike P. This review is a little old, so I can't remember exactly what I said, but I'm also a big fan of the Camry. It's reliable, comfortable, and has some decent storage space. At least for me, that's what all I really care about.

Good video but i have to say you're quip at the end about the blind side cameras is a little weak. Blind side cameras reward lazy driving. How hard is it to look over your shoulder and check it manually. I feel the same way about backup cameras. It encourages lazy habits.
@100RentalCars
@100RentalCars 6 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the encouragement! I have a love/hate relationship with blind side detection. I do love them on larger vehicles, especially pick-up trucks with poor visibility, but I think you're right when it comes to small sedans like this. It's probably not necessary.

100 Rental Cars there’s a Mercedes commercial that’s about 2 years old I think. And it’s this guy literally in the background saying “I was coming home late at night and I didn’t know there was someone in my blind spot. But my car did” idk if you know the ad I’m talking about but it was all over TV for like a year. And it was Mercedes promoting that and I thought “so you’re promoting a luxury car that rewards lazy driving. Ok” lol

Great cars, but I highly recommend the XSE & XLE trims cause you get a lot more features for only a couple thousand more such as dual zone automatic climate control with the digital display with rear seat vents, 4-way power passenger seat, stitching on both the doors & center console, heated front seats, wireless phone charging & more! I own a 2015 XSE V6 (very rare car) & my mother owns a 2017 XLE 4-cylinder overall much nicer than the LE & SE & sadly most people buy the SE which I see everywhere much more than the other trims on the road everyday.

I was actually given one of these as a rental when my car was in the shop. I've been a passenger in a Rav4, and drove this Camry (same year and trim) The one thing I gotta admit I'm impressed by the quality I feel within Toyota's. Everything feels like its made well on the interior of the car. The car feels quite good on the road, offers a decent ride. enough power to pass someone in the city or on the highway. It doesn't handle as well as my 08 Lancer, I did try to put it though some of its paces on my long curvy country road. But it's not bad. Over all I'm just impressed on how Toyota's feel. I understand why many people love them! There not my cup of tea when it comes to styling. But since I live out in the country and my commutes are long and I put miles on cars faster I've learnt to open up my eyes on other possibilities. VS I would normally view my self as a Chrysler & GM guy. (still am honesty) But I've opened my heart to allow to Mitsubishi's within my life. (2014 Mirage) (2008 Lancer) So we'll see where I go with this. I'm already thinking when I retire my Wifes Mirage to Purchase a used Rav4! She was quite the fan of the rental she drove, and with our rough winters a bigger car is best on our roads! Vs the Tiny Mirage (that still does decent)
@100RentalCars
@100RentalCars 6 жыл бұрын
So you like Mitsubishi? Nice. It took me a while, but I've grown to love the Mirage quite a bit. From what I hear it's super reliable. Have you had any issues with your Mitsubishis? And I agree about the Camry. It's a great rental, but it's missing something. Maybe if they added some flames down the side I could get excited about it...okay, maybe not flames, but I hope you see my point. They need to do something to make the Camry sexy. It's just to basic...and that's coming from a guy who loves "practical" cars.

Mitsubishi has been one of my favourite Japanese auto manufacturers. My roots are GM & Chrysler tho. I only own two Mitsubishi's right now because when I purchased my Mirage new I wanted a Lancer originally but it was late in the year and all the base models with Automatics I could of afforded were sold out. I didn't want to buy a brand new car to learn how to drive manual on either... The Mirage was my preferred choice out of all the other small subcompact cars I checked out. I liked it better then the 2014 Ford Fiesta. (slightly better deal as well) and the 2015 Nissan Micra that were just showing up the automatic ones were nearing the price of a 2014 Lancer SE. So out of my budget. So I got my 08 Lancer real cheap though connections and now I got my self the Lancer like I wanted and my wife stole my Mirage because the used cars I was looking at for her she didn't like any of them but the Mirage we had. So I was driving a 06 Chrysler Sebring for abit. (replaced by Lancer) Okay lets talk issues with the Mirage! I've had rather poor luck and I'll try to keep this story short and point/fact based and not go into my rant. But my Mirage was making an odd noise with the engine that would come and go and after awhile stayed. Dealers are not your friends. Fighting for 8 months and cracking some skulls by calling Mitsubishi corporate on there asses they replaced my whole engine. Suspected issue was timing chain. but they didn't know because they never bothered to tear into it. (but I got a new engine so thats fine) 57,000 miles. I had them change my CVT fluid at the same time. I swear the dealer fucked this up because my transmission had problems as soon as I got it back. More fighting followed by more skull cracking they installed a new transmission. I was getting more friendly with the corporate people at Mitsubishi and I brought up an issue regarding rear tire wear. It's a common issue it seems for these Mirages to chew though rear tires. Mitsubishi seems to be covering it up. The dealers tools have no info on this and thats why most people are ignored on this issue like I was. But the corporate guy I was talking too was well aware.. He had things setup to check my rear alignment and my rear end was replaced. Okay onto the Camry! I 100% agree with you! The Camry is to non offensive. it's to...... blah. Nothing is exciting about it or interesting. If all you want is a car then perfect! But I feel if your actually truly take a passion in cars I don't think the Camry offers much! So I would never buy one even tho I admit to Toyotas quality! Sorry that middle segment was long winded. If your interested I can share more into it. I've learnt how horrible dealerships are and I learnt what makes them horrible!
