---- Andrea Motis ( 2009)
---- Eva Fernández ( 2012)
---- Magalí Datzira ( 2014 )
----Rita Payés (2014 )

Not that I expect to add something substantial after 600 previous comments ... I just got to know about the existence of this school and these kids yesterday and I cannot stop watching and listening to them. Perhaps I should stress _watching_. And it is not only for this moment at 0:25 when Alba opens her eyes. The general comment after few hours of watching the videos of those guys is that we got all those superfamous and damn skilled and perfectly trained professional musicians doing tours after tours and they - admittedly - can play better than those teenagers and no wonder. I absolutely love Hancock, Jarrett, Harrell, Marsalis (Wynton and Branford), late Miles, late Michael Brecker, Stern, Jordan, Miller, Hakim, deJonette, Zakir Hussein, late Shirley Horn - to name the few, certainly there are more. Musically the best concerts I had a priviledge to attend were Hancock quartet with Marsalis, Jarrett trio, Corea Acoustic Band (Pattitucci and !Weckl!), Phil Woods Quintet with Harrell, Davis electric machine... But here we've got something so commonly missing on those big star shows: spontaneous positive emotions emanating from those youngsters, a JOY of making music, together with - if I'm not mistaken - friends they respect and like. When I started listening to jazz, these big ticketed shows often ended in a local jazz club, where some musicans used to drop in in 'after hours' to get a glass of beer, wine or vodka and to enjoy playing with the ones they had not played with on stage. Seems to me that, sadly, this is long gone. Perhaps because the tour has its demands. Perhaps. So here I find a huge dose of a pure, honest love for music. So I enjoy following their spontaneous looks, grimaces, moves, reactions to what others played or sung. And it's beautiful. Last time I felt so blessed was watching Kate Liu on Chopin piano competition 2015 - completely different type of music, different type of emotions, but if anyone's interested, follow these links: kzbin.info/www/bejne/i362qKB6gJKmiq8, kzbin.info/www/bejne/d4CZnJKfpcx4qas (where she actually cannot restrain from HUMMING to her playing 3:08-3:22!) So I guess this is my way of saying "thank you" to all those wonderful young souls and their teachers and guides. Please continue. Maybe one day you will be those damn skilled and perfectly trained professional musicians doing tour after tour, playing/singing even better than today. But for now let me say I love you for what you're doing TODAY, for sharing this joy with us.

What is special about the young musicians? It is the naturalness and the joy of the music that they radiate. And something else very important: they are themselves and not copies of anyone. And when they present something, it is as it is and not a repetition of what has already been heard. Bravo - that is something special that you should keep for as long as possible. There are already enough copies. Thank you for being who you are.

@@alanlevin167 Ticket sales will hardly cover the enormous cost of running a jazz school. Arthur Miller said you cannot have serious theatre without government patronage, the free market can't support it. The same is true of jazz, as much a demanding art form as chamber music or opera or ballet. The EC (which my own country Britain has sadly and foolishly left) was established to support such enterprises as Joan Chamorro's : I am only sad that so few of my music-loving friends have heard of him. Young talent needs financial support.

The answer to this question is hidden below. Alba's been with this band since age 7 or 8. First youtube solo was at age 8 (Struttin' with some barbecue). Start there, put in 6 more years with more stuff and more demanding stuff each year and here you are..... Another part of this must be that the kids all push (and pull) each other upwards. And Joan keeps this all going...........

Joan is a seasoned jazz multi-instrumentalist with international experience - info in spanish or catalunian Wikipedia. As a teacher in a municipal music school of a Barcelona suburb, he started a jazz band project - they had their 10th anniversary last year. First vids here are from 2007. Of course there are 25-30 yo "veterans"of this time and some are still active in the business: Eva Fernandez, Magali Datzira and her brother Iscle, Marc Martin, Eva Garin. The next promising generation includes Abril, Alba, Elsa, Koldo, Miranda, Nil and Victor, all below 16 yo. They have travelled all over Europe but not further AFAIK.

I think talent always prevails. To have the guts to sing any of Jobim's songs you have to know the subtlety and opus of Tom with hundreds of interpretations and arrangements like Deodato, Ogerman, Don Costa and so on. To have a vocal arrangement like this its about talent and education, emotion which spanish people do have a lot... But for me to put this song 15 times in an hour was a pure surprise and addiction ,, if you like.....

There isn't a greater sound in the world than this group! Mr. Chamorro may be the greatest teacher in the history of this genre. I mean every word I write here!! I could watch and listen to his different groups for weeks on end!!

I know this song and how it should be sung, and I declare Albas version to be the finest that I have ever heard. Simply magnificent. And not to leave out Èlia, Andrea and Ritas incomparable backing vocals. Superb can be the only description. Thank you ladies, for allowing us the joy of your talent.
