+Andreas Lie Yes, I have sit in a Model S, and it's interior fit and finish is not up to the level of my 2006 XC90. And I sit in the new XC90 at the LA Auto Show and it is far superior to the Model S. As for the Model X, well I hope they've done a better interior than the Model S, especially for $130,000.

I love the BMW x5's shape and design. I saw a different SUV on the highway and was immediately taken by the elegant design. I kept trying to get close to it to see what the brand was. I was floored to discover it was a beautiful Volvo!! So damn classy and unostentatious. It is a perfect alternative to the Beamers, Mercedes, Audi, and Range Rover SUVs out there. Love it!

SUV of the Year. Only the S550 and QX80 Limited come close re: the beautiful interior IMPO; but they're $25-$30k more. Love this joined up thinking from Volvo. Some will have issue with the XC90 being owned by the Chinese, rather than the Swede's. But I say, like Jaguar doesn't have India and Mini / Bentley German owners? This vehicle is the bombe.

+Kushari I wouldn't bet on that just yet, Volvos had 80 years of experience and over 40k real like crash studies with crashed Volvos. The new XC90 is the car with the highest scores in EuroNcap of all times. On paper crash ratings and IRL are two different things. Volvo even has a "saved my life" club, the only manufacturer that does.

TheWoodfinger Few problems with that. The Tesla is from Nov 2014, so over a year ago. Might not make a difference in most cars, but Tesla makes average of 20 changes a week. It scored the highest in the US testing, and due to physics, not having an engine in the front compartment makes it a huge crumple zone. I'd like them to retest it and see, as it broke some of the machines in the states.

That's not really an excuse, the old XC90...while 11 years old became the Top Safety Pick+ in 2014, beating almost every new car that year. The changes you talk about in the Tesla are usually adding more batteries and software. Structural improvements in the auto body is not take care of, it's to expensive for car companies to do that. EuroNcap tests are proven to be much more harder then IIHS and NHTSA. Maybe they'll to better with the Model X in EuroNcap...who know :).
