2016 Yamaha YXZ1000R Test

Yamaha gave us the opportunity to step into the driver’s seat of the YXZ1000R at the dunes of Glamis in Southern California. Yamaha’s new 2016 YXZ1000R is certainly a high-performance machine with all the power, suspension, and good handling qualities to match. Its manual shift transmission adds a cool aspect of performance and control that’s been missing from the entire side-by-side industry. Its shrieking, three-cylinder engine seems to rev faster and higher than any of its competitors. A bit more low-end torque would make relaxed driving a little easier, but if staying in touch with the engine, banging through the gears and letting it rip are what you are looking for in a side-by-side, then the YXZ1000R is the only machine for you.

pkbaker100 that wasn't a Pioneer, It was a Wolverine Wolverine R-Spec. Its purpose in being added to the video was to accompany the comment in the review regarding having to use the clutch on the YXZR in technical situations. The Wolverine R-Spec worked well in those situations.

+abdulla zieai There is no turbo model yet. You can get one from the aftermarket. We have heard of bit gains in reliable power.

This is more like an in-depth description instead of a "test". I'd really like to see a real test in the future.

+Cory Eagan I think Besides covering all of the "description" as you called it, we gave an impression of the type and amount of power, how it shifted, how the suspension performed, how it handled, how the brakes performed, how the tires performed, how comfortable the cockpit was, our impression of the build quality, Admittedly, we didn't test the lights at night, or try to figure out how much we could fit in the bed but if we missed anything else, we would like to know? What is it that you think was missing to make it a real test? Admittedly, we would have liked to have tried the car in some other environment in addition to the sand dunes.

+UTVonDemand Hi, I really enjoyed this video. It was very informative. I currently have a Renli RL1100 cc utv which I like very much. It is a very fun machine but it seriously lacks in the suspension area, namely with the shocks. I may want to purchase a different machine but I am not sold on any of them. I am looking at the YXZ, Maverick, and RZR1000xp as possiblities. The YXZ is cool looking but also weird looking. The rear fenders and overall body stance should have been leveled out more. However, it is the closest thing to a Renli that I can find. What is your recommendation for a replacement utv? Also can this YXZ climb things at low speed? How is the handling compared to a RZR? Can it go up a large dune hill and make it? My Renli does climb well and keeps up with all the RZR's I ride with. Thanks for your help. I may be in the market again soon.

they should put r1 engine in it. i hate this planned obsolescence cheating, pretending like 10 hp increase each year is some kind of technological development. with superbike engines we all could have had 150 hp utvs 10 years ago and 200 hp utvs now.

Yeah the problem with that is u don't have the low end torque u need from a sport bike motor so u can't play in the mud or even tow any weight.
