I love your podcasts, Dr Schell! Quick question on O2 and COPD. You said the reason for increased CO2 in COPD receiving increased FiO2 is inhibition of HPV. Is it the EtCO2 or the PCO2 that you are referring to? It seems that the EtCO2 will rise because of the increased blood flow to regions that are normally affected by the HPV. But the pCO2 should be lower if not the same since there will be increased elimination of CO2 at the pulmonary capillary level due to the increased blood flow. Please expound. Thank you!
