I visited Ypres, Cambrai, the Somme etc and the surroundings this year, one thing that I never got used to was the amount of graves of people from all over the world… Indians, nepalis, New Zealanders, Aussies, English, Algerians, Congolese, Moroccans, Scottish, Irish, Canadians, French, Belgians, Dutch and I probably forget a lot. So much pain all over the world. Something like this may never happen again.

We should never forget. Many, many families have their own sad tales to tell.

A veteran told me once that the real victims were the citizens who's rights they had fought for. At remembrance services think of them as well! Well since then, I have been doing exactly that thanks to his words of wisdom.

My father's past were farmboys who, went across the ocean blue, to save a people they never knew, they sailed and landed , spent wet nights in panic, while the shells they landed. But in the morning dawn, they looked at eachother, standing strong. In that hour they knew their task, they would storm the line, until the last.
