It used to be that an Italian design studio was contracted to make them look nice. It may still be the case today. I will never forgive Toyota, for abandoning loyal Daihatsu customers in Europe, after buying the company. I am a proud owner of a 1998 MOVE and am having difficulty finding replacement parts. I like my car so much that I don't ever plan on replacing it

いやー値段が高くなったとは言えど、10数年前の軽とは質感が大違いだな。 もちろんいい材質は使ってないんだろうけど、すごくて綺麗に作ってるわ。昔の軽なんてダサいし走らせたら遅いしうるさいしなんて感じだったけど、新しいの見たらもうそんなこと言えないね。

I would love to have cars like this in the US. The smallest car we can buy here in the US is the Smart Fortwo. Although we have small cars such as the Mitsubishi Mirage, Toyota Yaris, Chevrolet Spark, and Honda Fit, they are not as cool as Japanese Kei cars.
