Thinking about it, she actually should have been at the podium. Black was so blatantly overscored.

She should have had the bronze. I'm sorry. I usually give judges the respect they have earned, but this was crazy. The execution scores coming even close to hurd or eremina is insane. She had the difficulty, but her form leaves a lot of room to improve. I wanted to scream "point your toes" and "straighten your legs" more times than I can count

So happy for Morgan she is my favourite of the USA team! I also acknowledge that Ellie Black would have won had she not taken the .5 deduction on beam for touching her hand on the apparatus, Eremina could have been better on bars so this result could have gone either way. But of course, had Ragan, Larisa and Rebeca not have gotten injured we would be talking about a completely different result, this was the most wide open AA competitions we've seen in a while!

Eremina has huge potential. Without her mistakes on bars she would've won the championships. Could you imagine if she upgrades her vault and floor? I can't wait to see it

But only because the bars field is very competitive right now. For example, I think Eremina is better at bars (top qualifier) than Ragan is at floor (top qualifier for FX finals).

Lebronze Blackrose Look at the top bars girls. They were all in the high fourteens & low fifteens. I think only Jade & Maria hit 15 on vault. They needed Amanar’s, to do it. If Eremina had hit bars. She would be World Champion. She only vaulted a 1.5. A good DTY gets mid-fourteens, now. This quad it looks like bars, vault, floor, & beam.

In my opinion (don't read if you don't like): This was a great competition for such an underwhelming World Championships. It was exciting, well-rounded, and not just a race for silver and bronze like it was for the past however many years. Morgan Hurd did incredibly well and had solid and artistic routines (look at her dance sequence from 3:29 to 3:40! I mean, the little extras she adds with her fingers and toes are just so creative and refreshing to see instead of some cookie-cutter power-power-power-"dance" segment-power that most American routines are nowadays). Elsabeth Black finally got some recognition for her consistent gymnastics over the years, and Elena Eremina looks like she could become the next Victoria Komova or Aliya Mustafina. Even though I'm a little disappointed that Mai Murakami didn't get on the podium for Japan, she still won a gold on floor. The event finals weren't so great in my opinion (and I feel that some people should have gotten into the finals, like Georgia-Mae Fenton instead of Ashton Locklear), but it wasn't just a USA sweep of the whole thing. Looking forward to 2018 worlds in Doha!

@cts sam Hurd won the AA over all of the other potential world team candidates including Ragan Smith at the Worlds Selection Camp where the team was selected. She was still coming off of her injury at Natls. Plus the US women have such a high degree of difficulty that their athletes are trained to peak only at a certain point during the season otherwise it’s too hard on their bodies. So the US selects it’s competitors based on who is the best at the time the competition is about to take place, not at nationals several weeks earlier.

Eremina could have won this thing had she hit bars like she did in prelims. She's definitely gonna be one to watch for Russia for years to come. SO HAPPY FOR MORGI BOO!! but really sad for Mai... this final be channeling mixed emotions 😭😭 Also can we not say they got lucky? Yes I know if Andrade, Iordache and Smith were competing things probably would have been different but at the end of the day they weren't competing and those who were in the final were competing and the result turned out the way it did. Yes it may not have been as exciting but let's not take away from these gymnast's wins, they look very happy and we should be happy for them too.

@megang8658

I wouldn't say luck has anything to do with it.. They all work so hard to achieve what they have. How well you perform relies on consistency & your mentality/confidence. Personally I think Black was over scored (her execution is poor) but Morgan earned that title - she's an extremely talented gymnast. I knew she had it in her

Romania made bad decisions years ago after the retirement of Belu and Bitang and it will take them years to correct that if they make the right decisions. A lot of us saw the warning signs years ago. Russia went through the same thing after the retirement of Arkaev but are coming back strong with a system that works for their country. It took the US 20 years to come up with a system that consistently creates strong gymnasts. Luck had nothing to do with it.

Morgan Hurd is an incredibly lackluster and over-rated gymnast. I'd be surprised if she survives this next quad. She won but let's face it, there wasn't much real competition there to begin with. I just hope the Top girls (Biles, Raisman, Iordache) return in 2018 so I could actually see some real talent.

"real talent" morgan is only 16 years old, calm down. let me remind you simone and aly were not that great at 16 either, she'll improve and most likely make it to tokyo

@448cv 7 жыл бұрын
I think she super talented for her first time at worlds! I do believe as soon as Simone and aly comes they will def dominate, but at 16 Simone was already amazing. She won the first time she was at a world champion and continue to win until the 2016. She also won 4 gold medals there. I see a very young and someone who has a lot of potential in Morgan.
@trevorfuncheon8501
@trevorfuncheon8501 7 жыл бұрын
Young Contrarian be aware that not only Morgan is a first year senior, but she is only 16 years old. Simone and Aly are in their 20’s so they probably stopped growing. While Morgan is still growing and yet she is advanced tumbling passes that even Simone was doing at the olympics last year(Silivas) . She’ll eventually get more cleaner and become a better gymnast as she gets more older and experienced, since this is her 3rd international competition. Overall, she did very well at Montreal this year and hope to see her in Tokyo in 2020!

Young Contrarian we must remember that she is sixteen and if international judges deemed her worthy to win first at worlds I don’t see why you don’t think she deserved the gold.

Young Contrarian Surely there are people who are better, more succesful and have more experience than Morgan. But her career has just began, and she has plenty of time to improve and shine. None of the gymnasts you listed are sixteen year old new seniors like Morgan. They are undoubtely better than her. They have improved heaps since they were 16 and so will Morgan. She was the best one competing there that day and she is a World Champion, end of story. No need to steal the child's glory with your salty "but it wasn't much real competition".
