Good video... one thing for ALL Audi Q7 2017 - 2020 owners. Grease with the appropriate stuff, the clips that mount inside the caliper, the part on the pad that goes into the metal clips, the backside of the pad... unless of course, you like the train whistle sound when backing up out of the garage when you cars cold. Mine has all the appropriate clips as stated in the bulletin, but still whistles like a mofo when back out of a spot after sitting a while. Ordered all new clips and ceramic brake pads with extra noise reduction padding on the backside of the pads. Pretty sure the current metallic makeup of the OEM pads against the OEM rotors aren't meant to play nice together.

So the pistons doesn’t need to be pushed back manually with a clamp or something like that? Also, did you pre-treat the torx screw that held the rotor in place? Seems way too easy. 😂

I did some research on the electric parking brakes that are on the rear brakes and found that you can retract the parking brake system without a VAG COM software. just disconnect the plug to the brake motor and hook up 2 wire leads to the contacts on the motor with your own crimp on insulated connectors and connect to a 12V battery to retract and then back down when pads are replaced by reversing the polarity of the wires 👍 no need to disassemble the electric brake motor or use VAG COM. let me know when you do yours.

Could be dangerous if you do tis without sensory feedback (Current measure or positional sensor (middle contact of the 3 pins)). There are some cheap VW-Diagnostic tools on the market from different brands that offer e-brake opening (for service) and reseting them after you're done.

Hi. Watched your Q7 Break Pad video, and I want to ask you this: My 2018 q7 Breaks tend to shake (not breaking smooth like my other vehicles) whenever I drive over 80mph and begin to apply break pedal at about 60-70% intensity. I tried to have two dealerships fix this issue, one of them even changed the break pads and rotors (at least I hope they did, since my wife had that done on her own while I was overseas), it did some good in the beginning and now ( about 1year passed) same situation. The vehicle only has 50k miles on it and my wife is driving it for the most part. I would appreciate if you can maybe give some pointers if not a possible solution to this annoying issue.

Just a heads up for the people who may not be as familiar with a car like this, the brake wear sensor that clips onto the brake pad is made of what I am guessing is graphite. If you are not careful while handling it, you will break it. Anyone more knowledgeable, feel free to correct me if I am wrong. Edit: Thanks for the video.

I noticed that too. The vanes between the two sides of the rotor should be aimed at the back of the car for proper cooling. NOW, if the front L and R rotors are the same P/N, then pick the side you want the better cooling on, not that you'll notice a difference or anything.
@whatthez30693 жыл бұрын
@@nms1326 if it's a directional rotor, no big difference on dry day. Bigger differences if it's raining. It also have a higher chance of rotor warp due to the fact it is sucking water in.
