Someone explain why this show went from winning the first half to finishing 5th. No disrespect but is the judging that odd? I don't feel like they watered anything down and they definitely improved massively like the other corps. Thankfully I don't really watch for the scores but for enjoyment. Just don't like the way the activity is being rewarded, or not rewarded for demand. This was probably the most difficult show in 17.

They got Cadeted. Like Cadets in 13-15 came out strong then judges got bored with it and moved on. I can't for the life of me understand how Cavaliers beat this in ANY way.

personal opinion. Everybody's stuff early season is looser and there's a bit of leeway for things not being together. As late season came around, the corps that use a traditional listen back system and stereotypical listening environments kept getting cleaner and cleaner and vertical alignment kept improving. But that didn't really happen for bluecoats because they do so much electronic reinforcement and their pit is so spread out. such an entertaining show, but it never got past "legible" in terms of phasing section to section and entrance to entrance. I'd be interested to see their Music score and how it affected their other scores.

the tenor feature at 3:15, in case if you arent in drumline and dont know why this is so impressive, playing together while 1 yard apart is extremely difficult because it is extremely hard to listen to the other players and play in time

For some reason on finals night, they took the opener way to fast on tempo and kinda ruined the visual performance on their prop. Kinda like if you were bop your head to the music. The tempo on this run to me would have been perfect. Huge fan of the bluecoats and they always got my support.

I love the Bluecoats, but what the hell was that ballad? They always pull through with the amazing ballads that really give them an edge and special touch, but this year was not that. Why the hell would you have all that power facing backfield? When I heard them play at the premier I was hoping that they could repeat but then I heard the ballad. Damn. Next year.

tbh them playing backfield is what made the ballad special for me, it gives that sorta echo-ey sound that you'd never hear in any other environment.. and don't get me wrong, having your ears blown out is great and all, but this was something unique and that made it much more memorable that it would've been otherwise, for me

Christian Nava the ballad is facing backfield to create that distant echoey effect, and if you want the full power of the Corp that is exactly what the last movements company front, in front of the pit is for.

Pretty sure it was designed specifically for the acoustics of Lucas oil stadium to bounce off the backfield bleachers and tunnel and create a spatial effect.

@@cocoafox They didnt do it right then. It didnt have a very good affect if thats what they were going for. Check out Santa Clara Vanguard's 2015 ballad, thats how you create a good spacial effect while facing back field. I love the Bluecoats above most other corps but that year they just didnt have it in my opinion.

Idk if this run was especially bad, but they had so many mishaps with the hats. People dropping their hats, then other people have to pick up the hats and throw them back... I feel like they had a good idea with using the hats for choreo but took it a bit too far.

Why do they march tubas if they are going to use as much electronic bass as they do. There were moments in Atlanta where I could not hear the tubas at all, but the e-bass . . . I could definitely hear that.

In my opinion, Bluecoats and SCV have the best Tuba (technically "contra") sections. At least for the past couple years. But Damn this overbearing electronic bass destroys the power that they already possess (Bluecoats)

The guy filming was close to a speaker as well so obviously you’re gonna hear it more in this video and they are on the right side of the field half the time, unless you aren’t talking about this run through than I would disagree I can always hear the contras but sometimes tubas are usually drowned out by the the higher pitched instruments like mellos and trumpets
