Nick yeah, but Lonhro would have won by two lengths if it wasn’t for a spud ride from Beadman. The Grey Flash has 1 go and one go only, cold ride and a late run. Unreal performance!

@@alistairmccooke820It’s a bit stiff to blame Beadman. I disagree with the margin as well. Unhindered, Lonhro wins by 5+ lengths untouched.

I would have watch this replay at least 1000 times now, gives me goosebumps every time, unbelievable ride by Tommy Berry too. Once he pulls out left and finds that gap he only uses the whip 4 times and at the 100m knew exactly what he had under him and just held on for dear life. I don't think I have ever seen such a acceleration over the last 100m and probably never will. What a champion Chautaqua

Making up 8 lengths in 200m shows insane turn of foot. I think all regular racegoers knew Chautauqua had some really good acceleration, but that was insane. At the 200m I was thinking "they must have made an error in the video title" LOL

All comments heaping unjustified praise on overrated one trick ponies are an absolute insult to the great champions of the past and should be banned. Better than Frankel,better than Pharlap say the twenty year old journalists. Absolute insult . It isn't how many races you win. Possibly the greatest performance by an Australian horse post war was by Crisp. Crisp lost the race. Take note Black Caviar.It is called guts. like Ken Callender said " the best sprinter he has seen is Vain. By a long way" I love the "by a long way" What a good judge.

Hardly a champ Mr Fastnet ! You tipped him twice and both times the horse lost. You are an expert after the event it would seem. What happened to the horse ten days ago when you he was a cert ?? Or when he was coming to Ascot in May 2016 and was going to "kick ass". Well, when are you going to get something right Mr Fastnet ?? Have you paid Jimmy the money you lost to him ?? You are a fuckwhit !
@tdunster2011
@tdunster2011 6 жыл бұрын
Chautauqua is never a certainty because of the way he races. On ability alone he's one of the best - but a bit of traffic or a horse dropping back always makes him susceptible to missing out on a direct path to the post. When it comes to BC though we are taking about a horse that covered the furlong in 10.04 seconds. No other Thoroughbred in history has come close to that figure. She was and still is the fastest Thoroughbred to have ever stepped onto a turf racetrack anywhere in the world.

Chatauqua was a cert two weeks ago because AnotherFastnet70 said so ! Mind you AnotherFastnet70 also said that Caravaggio was a cert two months ago too. Two favs, one odds on and both lost. Little Limato gave Caravaggio six pounds and a beating !

Wow I might be replying to a dead man but geez you just couldn't help your compulsive lying. I tipped Chautauqua in this race and the 2 years prior when he won AND when he went to Hong Kong and won. I've never backed Caravaggio in my life and I asked you multiple times to provide proof of where I said I tipped him and of course you failed to provide any. Sadly you died a compulsive liar.

It was astonishing. I gave him no hope at the 300m mark. On a very heavy track he ran the final 400m in 23.58 secs, the final 600m in 35.05 secs, and the last 200m in 11.95. Given the wide run on the turn, he may have actually run a little further than 400m. He appeared to be impeded between the 400 and 300m. It further consolidates Winx's claim to greatness as well.

It would be great to see this champion win The Everest, but they can't go on forever. It is such a wonderful collection of sprinters that a bunch of them could win it. I cannot fault Redzel. He is well drawn, can be held behind the speed, and his final sectionals have been very fast. We forget that She Will Reign is a 3yo filly, and 3yos don't win too many G1 6f races at Randwick. Fell Swoop at 60/1 is good place value.

Her is another thing to contemplate.I have crudely measured Chautauqua's stride in the race, where the track was very heavy, and get 23.5ft. It was 25.3' (300m) and 24.4' (200m) last year in the TJ, on a soft track. In the Chairman's at Sha Tin it was 23' 10" (200m), on a good, but Strathayr. According to sources, Secretariat had a stride of 23.8' and Black Caviar 26.25'. Obviously stride changes with going and surface, and race pressure.
@svendbosanvovski4241
@svendbosanvovski4241 7 жыл бұрын
At about 24 ft, you wouldn't say that Chautauqua is not a big strider, so his great finishing ability probably comes from a huge ticker and the power he drives through his frame. At about 1100lb in weight, he is not exceptionally large for a stallion. For example, Silent Witness weighed in at just under 1300 lb at the end of his career, and Hay List was apparently about 1440lb.
@bgardiner3354
@bgardiner3354 7 жыл бұрын
Three outstanding geldings ;) Tony Cruz was in the press just recently saying that he thought that Silent Witness would have had the measure of Black Caviar. I'm not so sure that Silent Witness ever beat a horse anywhere near as good as Hay List during his career. What a great race though that would have been. Black Caviar running away from Silent Witness and Hay List, both trying to hold out a flying Chautauqua for second. It reminds me of a good Donald Bradman story.

@bgardiner3354
@bgardiner3354 7 жыл бұрын
I absolutely agree. Sacred Kingdom was a great horse. Here's a comment from our old friend BalmainBucko Sven I thought you might appreciate. "I had a look at his [Phar Lap's]sectionals in the AJC plate B.Gardiner he ran through the first half mile in 49 seconds..he was 1.24 at the 7 furlongs which is cruising from the 2nd to 7F on AVE under 12 seconds, no wonder he was in front by 30L at the 8f..he ran through the 10f in 2.01 of which is outstanding only 5L of todays TR and was 3.20 at the 2 mile..the current record is 3.19..this was a horse out in front on his own with steel hoofs on 3rd up in one week with nothing to prove against the clock running some unbelievable sectionals , it was IMO the best ever single performance on a track by any horse of all time it's a shame we have no footage of it."
@svendbosanvovski4241
@svendbosanvovski4241 7 жыл бұрын
Like the great Secretariat, he was beaten at set weights. Only three horses beat Phar Lap at set weights and they were all champions or near champions: Mollison, Amounis (twice), and Waterline. Amounis is a Hall of Famer inductee. They were early in campaigns and over 8 or 9f. He had his revenge against Amounis and Mollison. As you know BG, Back then, horses got to peak form by racing.

Jesse Hunter He's a sit and suffer horse. His racing style can get him beaten from time to time. He's reliant on the pace being strong enough through the first part of the race to set him up. The reason his performance in this race was so good was because a. The pace for the first 3F of this race wasn't that fast, predictably on the ground. b. The track bias on the day meant that nothing was making ground from the back all day. He just should not have won it.
