G'day Chris, I've got to say the JX3 is the most comfortable small knife handle I've ever held. The blade and choil design are brilliant. I use mine nearly every day; in the kitchen and everywhere else. I've got lots of neckers and small 'pocket carry' knives but I keep coming back my JX3. Thanks, Chris. Cheers, BH

I had previously commented on that mini Kubrick in the video review of that knife. I made a design very similar to that of the approximate size (mine appears slightly larger), and regardless of what people think of it, I guarantee that's a darn good knife. It will chop well for its size and the belly on that knife will also make it a good performer in other bushcraft type situations. I agree Chris that people need to get their hands on that in order to see its worth. BTW what is the name of your other channel? I think you speak of more survival type equipment, situations, etc, rather than mostly knives.

I'm trying to get my hands on a Grizzly. That and the Bark River Aurora will be the main knives in my survival bag, and I'll take both of them in the woods when I camp - cause when I camp I go in the middle of nowhere. IF I were ever to get stuck in the middle of no man's land, I would want to have a blade like that on my side. And if I ever need to defend myself against a wild animal . . . It may never happen; but then if it did happen . . . The last thing that's gonna go through the mind of that bushcraft snob with the 3 1/2" knife is gonna be "Damn I wish my Knife was six inches longer." At least with a 9" piece of CPM-3V you have a chance. Just goes for the eyes and rip his balls off!
@comfusedWorldpassanger33997 жыл бұрын
Yeah, that would make a perfect set up. - I would live to get a Aurora *small, what a beautifuel knife it is. My go-to set up are a 7" B.R. Bolo Grosso, and a B.R. Bravo edc. A 3" blade, but these two together, for me is the perfect set-up. Hope you et your Grizzly soon..

So now we come to the Heart of the Matter: "Why do I keep knives I have no Primary use for?" The answer is simple: Because you want to keep them. The only people you need to answer to is yourself and the spouse. Now, if you are asking the KZbinrVerse for tasks or jobs to Justify your keeping them, that's one thing. But I don't think you did. Personally, I'm just glad you are showing them to us. Take Care.
@preparedmind1017 жыл бұрын
People don't consider: When you have a LOT of knives, you might like a lot of them a LOT. But if you are actually going to go out and do stuff in the woods, you are always going to grab your best stuff you are the most proficient with. Part of me is a knife collector.

Not necessarily other ones he promotes, but his own ones are pretty sweet. I don't see him talking about the Becker series much anymore. Maybe a BK update video wld be good. The whole series
@preparedmind1017 жыл бұрын
+Adam Smith Beckers used to be my favorite. But I had to modify them to make them the way I wanted... Strip the coating, polish, square the spine, etc. It was the BK9 that inspired Jess-X. I loved the size of the blade, but the weight, geometry, and everything about it was still "combat knife" (it IS called the BK9 COMBAT Bowie!). So I asked myself "How could I take a blade of this length and height and make it do everything I want it to do?" For that, I had to change everything about the geometry, grind, and steel and completely invent a handle nobody has ever done before. And for THAT... The Beckerheads attacked me. Said I was either defiling their God's creation (kind of like that pedestal thing I talk about in the new channel "trailer') and said I just "stole the BK9 blade and put it in an ugly handle". Even though the ONLY commonalities is blade length and blade height. That's it. Then when another KZbinr tested it against not one but three other Beckers and it kept owning, that pissed them off more. That, plus some unrelated things I said years ago in anger that they refused to accept my amends for. I've no interest in promoting their Grail knives. In truth, I grew out of Beckers and into my own design style. Beckers are great knives, don't get me wrong. BK7/BK9 are still iconic to me. But they don't reflect what I like anymore. They do have one key thing I love: Combat knife speed and agility in the hand. I haven't done a knife where that specific trait was needed.... Until now. My newest design is as mold breaking as Jess-X was. The drawing is on its way to Bark River now, so hopefully we'll see it by mid-summer. If I had to describe Devv-X (flagship of the new line), it's the offspring of Jess-X and a Dark Timber Honey Badger.

LOL, Shipmate! Full Disclosure Time: I am the former ET1(SS) Leslie Paul Kovacs aka "Bubblehead Les" of the Old Blogosphere days. For the Civilians out there, there are 9 Enlisted Pay Grades out there in the US Military, lowest being E-1, highest being E-9. My rank would be (Generically) Petty Officer First Class (PO1), which is the Army Equivalent of Staff Sargent. Chris was one level down, but he's still a Sargent. Gunny Ermey would be above both of us. Now I did my Time from 1976-1987, but I did it on or supporting Fleet Ballistic Missle Submarines. Which meant I and my Shipmates HAD to be Qualified to do EVERYTHING that Chris did, because my Submarines operated alone w/o any other support. So if a Fire broke out, like it did on the John Marshall in 1980, we handled it. Or if a 4500 POUND PER SQUARE INCH Air Line Broke, like it did on the Ulysses S. Grant in 1987, we handled it. We HAD to, because WE were 911 and the Electric Company and the Police Dept and the Paramedics, etc. We did it with the RIGHT Gear for the Job, the RIGHT Training and PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE! That's called "Prepping", just like Chris said. Now, back in my day (before Trapper Keepers), I also received "Survival Training" for what to do if we Survived our Missions. And that was having the Ability to launch up 16 Nuclear Missiles, then try and Run Away. The rest of what I want to say may still be Classified, so I'll shut up on that. What I will say is that when I came in, most of my Superiors were Vietnam Vets who had been there and done that and lived to tell about it. So I listened to the "Real Survivalists", the guys with the AK 47 Bullet Scars on their Body. Let's wrap this up. I've been through Dave Canterbury's Basic Class, and it's good. But even he said the Reality Shows are rigged for Entertainment. Because who would want to spend weeks watching a Guy sit under a Tarp tending a Fire? Dave's also a Vet (Army) BTW. So for all you Civvies out there who think Chris Tanner doesn't know his Shit, YOU ARE WRONG! And if there are any Vets who have a Problem with Chris, well, let's talk about it over a Cold One. First Rounds on YOU! Bottom Line: I'll go to Sea with Chris any day of the week. BZ Tanner, keep it up.

Chris, my comment was directed much more to the Haters and the Dumbasses who seem to be giving you Crap because "If you were a REAL_________, then you'd know the ONLY thing you'd be using or doing is________!" Unlike those Nimrods, a lot of realize that your Channel has Evolved into more Reviews than Tutorials. But Geez Louise, how many Different way can there be to Rig a Freakin' Tarp? And if you don't like to hear it in English, go watch a German or Russian or a Spanish Version! And trust me on this: the Best Thing you ever did for the "SURVIVALIST/DOOMSDAY APOCOLYPSE" Crowd was your "Base Camp in a Bag" and your Car Kit. If they can't get the Word after you SHOW THEM PICTURES, Screw 'Em, they're just Zombie Chow! ( But if you ever find a way to Dehydrate a Home Depot, a Krogers, a CVS and the State Liquor Store and fit them into the Trunk, you better Shoot it)! Another thing : please explain to me how you can test a New Chopper if you're carrying a Bravo 3? A little Redundant, don't you think? Kind of gets in the way of why you're Testing in the First Place. But since it's your Bravo 3, it's YOUR Blade, do what you want to do or not do with it. Still America the Last Time I looked. Any way, try to enjoy another Lovely Weekend of GREAT Buckeye Weather. Yea Ohio. Take Care.

It's all about the "REAL Survival Guru dick measuring contest" I could have played the game since it became about military experience (which apparently is gold in Survival street cred currency) and reminded them I'm a 10 year US Navy Damage Control vet that held they position of Ships Marshall as an E5... You know... The job that thinks about problems before they happen, tells everyone else what to do when it does, and has to be able to think quickly and make life or death decisions under pressure? most especially for self defense purpose knives, like the I.C.E., it's kind of imperative to release a training version of the knife. any defensive knife, you have to drill with it, pulling it, cutting sith it, stabbing with it, but as you mythology, you can't be sharpening a dagger like that all the time or you lose the point. training knives folks, they are the tool you can beat the shit out of so that when some drunk asshole does start shit, you can end it. no movie bullshit, train your ass off.
