2017 Ford Fusion Sport Review

Although calling it a Mustang sedan is a bit of a stretch, the 2017 Ford Fusion Sport is a great choice for a Mustang driver who needs more practicality. The sedan isn't going to steal away any BMW drivers, but it is a sporty sedan and is the best Fusion you can buy.

I’m glad Ford is offering it, it’s a nice option for those that want a sedan but can appreciate more power. I’d like to see Ford actually make a sedan and wagon on a more performance oriented chassis. While RWD and a stick would be nice I know it won’t happen, I’d settle for the Focus RS, GKN AWD system and Lincolns TT 3.0l V-6. Give me a Taurus sized wagon, GKN AWD with the Coyote V-8 and a manual and you can take my money, take it take it all.

That wont happen, The reason is the majority of people are spending more money on SUVs rather than Wagons and big D segment sedans because they give more room, more metal,more road presence and huge visibility advantage Fords EDGE is an example..sells really well Now by 2019 Ford will uplift the current CD4 platform to 2 wheelbase states, 1 will hold the Fusion,Edge,MKZ, and the other will hold Continental, For this application Ford will give a toned down version of GKN AWD and a new 9 speed AT and engines ranging from 2.0 EB to 3.0 EB

Oh I know, no one but the Germans offer wagons with the CTS now dead. And the last affordable wagon with any performance was the Magnum and Legacy GT. My only option is to just go with a people mover or buy a used luxury wagon which has its issues. A nice 6.2l Chevy Nomad would be awesome though.

I bought a 2016 Toyota Avalon touring edition early this year and I must say, I am very impressed by Ford and how much they stepped up. Hell, this video convinced me to check out the new Sport fusion next time I hit the dealer.

It's the weight that really affects the Fusion Sport. A 2018 ecoboost Mustang is about 600-700lbs lighter and has 310hp/350lb-ft of torque with a 10 speed auto vs the 6 speed auto in the Fusion. It's an awesome sedan but for equal or less money a turbo Mustang can be optioned with higher performance specs (performance pack, Magneride suspension). Both are cool cars, just wish the Fusion Sport was lighter and had a better transmission.

To me the Fusion Sport is a Ford version of the Audi A4, less expensive and still looks sharp. BMW only seems to import 4 wheel drive now, so you can’t even compare it to those cars. I find when manufactures keep to their own values and heritage, the better their products are.

A Mustang buyer would not buy this car, they would probably go for the Dodge Charger or the Chevy SS. it's good that they offer this sport package but I'd rather spend my 40k on something RWD

Ponygt 662 then you're not a Mustang buyer. a Mustang buyer does not want a refined car or a sleeper. mustangs are notorious for having crappy interiors and for being loud. do u know what a muscle car is? it's supposed to be loud with in your face sexy styling and would compromise on comfort for performance and fun. so you sir don't know a typical Mustang buyer or why people buy muscle cars in general. if you want a refined car or a sleeper don't buy a Mustang because a Mustang is not any of those. so no thank you. I don't want your fusion and neither do mustang buyers

I bought one last month. I wouldn't compare it with a Mustang though. You're talking RWD vs AWD. Coupe vs 4-Door. It does 0-60 in 5.1 and could definitely use some weight reduction.

How is it a stretch to call this a Mustang sedan? It beats out both the Mustang V6 and Ecoboost in the 0-60 time (and with a plug & play tune, even gets very close to the GT's performance). Handling may not match up exactly but it's absolutely not bad for a car with 4 doors, especially something with a Fusion badge on it.

I just paid 22K Certified used for a 2017 with just under 34k miles. Pristine car with brand new tires off of a 2 year lease. Not every option but the original sticker was like $37,500.

decent power hp and great TQ but it needs 93 octane to make those numbers , i would have to run meth in the factory car to get that power and that would not be good for the warranty :( should be a good car to pick up on the used market later down the road

Did turn signal had like 3-4s of signaling and then automatically turn it off (like VW)? Because that is very handy on highways and when you need to switch lanes. With Mazda 6 my favorite car in segment for sure.

Dear AutoGuide.com U just said the regular Fusion is BORING to drive, heck NO.. The Fusion Titanium with 2.0 EB is probably the best car to drive out of all FWD sedans in market,Accord,Sonata,Camry,even Subaru,Nissan all feel dead boring to drive While Fusion and Mazda 6 and Passat are the only cars that has some passion built into it, regardless of engine choice

All those jokes about the Mustang being a Fusion coupe, and now this is a 4 door Mustang? RWD vs FWD /AWD, different platforms & engine options. Heck, why not the Focus RS? At least it shares the 2.3L Ecoboost. They need to offer the Fusion Sport's 2.7L V6 in the Mustang, or even the Raptor's 3.5L V6. The Fusion will ever reach the iconic status of the Mustang. You won't find a "blue oval" anywhere.
