2017 Ford Galaxy review | What Car?

Bought 3½-year old ex-Motability Jan18 Titanium X automatic 49k miles 5 weeks ago. Done 2k miles: London North Wales, 2 people clothes, heavy duty tools, carbon fibre bike, and pick up 2.4 metre fence posts; London Dorset 4 adults, clothes, swimming, running gear, drop chickens off at sitter; also London Birmingham, London Hastings. All in summer heat loving the aircon and sun roof (not same time). Not yet carried 6 passengers. Stunningly suitable for our needs. Wonderfully sedate drive for me and passengers. Previous owner's satnav favourites show he mostly did long motorway journeys. Never driven automatic before but left foot pains made me check out the option. D mode is fine for economy but the gear changes are weird and not ideal, especially when cresting a rise in town traffic. Using S mode not as 'sport' but as 'stay in lower gear' to control low speed in, eg, downhill 20mph in traffic in town - have now got used to swapping between D and S modes as a rough equivalent to using a manual car and it works great. I, wife, and everyone whose been in it, love it. AWD and 190bhp for narrow lanes in North Wales in winter might have been useful but that version is rare on the used market, less economical in general use, and we didn't have time to wait for one we could afford. Recommended to us by two neighbours and we strongly agree. Expecting to use as microbus for elderly friends and relatives on days out and church weekend-aways. Also to take tools, buy and pick up stuff for jobs on friend and family homes over 200 miles from us. Brilliant!

I've tried both S-Max and the Galaxy, I purchased the Galaxy. The Galaxy is only 2 inches longer, but ask a woman, two more inches make a difference ! I'm 6.1F (186cm) and I can sit on all seats, even on the 3rd row. When the second and third rows are down, I can even lie down (it's about 2m) The downside of owning such car being parking ! Good luck finding a place to park in town !

I do not think that the size of this car is so large that you cannot park it, Believe me it differs from the sedan by a small difference.

I rented this car with my family on my trip to the Czech Republic in the summer of 2019. This car is wonderful with a 4 cylinder diesel engine and can accommodate 7 people, and it was economical in fuel and accelerating excellently.

@@aldstv1963 Of course, I traveled on this car from Prague to Slovakia, Poland and Hungary, it is a great car in terms of stability on long roads and fuel economy, I recommend this car because it is suitable in the city and highways. I would like to own a Ford Galaxy, but this type is not available in my country.

I love the Galaxy, it's one of my favorite cars, I have one here in Dubai, it's a 2017 Titanium model, I imported it to Dubai. My daily driver is a 2002 Subaru WRX Estate.

I have both, Alhambra and Galaxy. Alhambras instruments are likely those of a golf, polo, Passat.... Boring... Big advantage of Alhambra are sliding doors. Service costs are cheaper for the galaxy

Don’t buy automatic ford galaxy 2017 me and my mate brought galaxy after one year we both had Gearbox problem and ford to sort out it will cost you £5000. Never gonna buy ford galaxy or ford nice body design but shit engine.

Tell you what, if you don't like MPVs, buy yourself an SUV or an Audi like the rest of knob-heads I see on the road. It won't make you a better driver, though. I'm a pro driver, I drove fast cars and I love my Galaxy. You know what they said about Mike Tyson? He was moving too fast for his size. He shouldn't be that fast, he moved like much smaller man. The same can be said about Galaxy, being that big it drives like a compact car. So agile, so responsive. Fun to drive plus massive amount of space. So big that if my wife kicks me out someday, I still will have a place to live.

This car is not good after 100k miles the electronic problems start . Gear transmission issues ABS problems . High maintenance cost . I prefer models before 2016. Spending all hard earned money to the ford dealers

You can’t deny that at least some European car makes are garbage too, which is why only some don’t even sell here in America. So it doesn’t really make any sense to make in fun of American cars when Europe has a fair share of poorly built cars too. Just take a look at both the Smart Fortwo and the regular model Fiat 500 and tell me how “fantastic” they look. Now to be fair, I actually like SOME car makes from Europe. It's one of the worst mpv in the world..it comes with tone of problems. Starting..with constant injectior problems fuel injectior and also it's more likely get fire while driving..GEAR box is the very common problem is this MPV which is minimum repair over £3500..I had one and sold to we buy any car for only £1400
