2017 - Golden Reel

This is the official film from the first ever final of 'The Golden Reel' - a fishing competition where the winner would take away a £50,000 first prize.
The match took place at Larford Lakes in Worcestershire - with 24 of the best match anglers in Britain spending months qualifying for the final, before competing against each other in an epic 5-hour contest for one of the biggest cash prizes ever offered in UK match fishing.
This programme was originally shown on BT Sport and is presented by Andy Ford and Rob Hughes - with guest commentary from top match angler Grant Albutt.

Can you tell me why a lot of the anglers place there seat box into the water , you only gain 3 ft at most and have to take valuable time setting up your box cheers Rick Zieba

Hi Richard. It's a really simple one.....they like sitting in the water to fish. There's no advantage other than being a couple of yards further out to cast, and you are a little lower down to avoid potentially spooking cruising fish to - but mainly, it's just because they like doing it!
