If you close the valve with that AWE remote, you can get rid of a lot of drones. However, it seems that all stage 2 Golf R have drone without resonator in any muffler. This always happen around 3.1k rpm.

On the exhaust: was that the AWE Track exhaust causing the drone, or the Switchpath where you can choose flaps open/closed? EDIT: Great review! Ironically I'm between getting a Golf R to tune or saying "screw it" and getting a Charger Hellcat... I know, they're two completely different cars... but you've driven 'em both so I thought I'd share!

I like all the mods you went with but the exhaust seems to shake quite a bit and the wheel color doesn't match that well with your body color. I think black or gun metal would of been a better choice.

Very nice golf R, but this is far from a typical stage 2 with just ECU/TCU/Downpipe. Looking at the 3 pages long mod list, the cost to duplicate this build can almost buy you an new Audi RS5 haha.

I love the mods. I am looking to buy a new car. Basically more power and move away from FWD. I currently own a MK6 GTI. Love it. But looking to upgrade. I guess what prevents me from getting an R is the price. Not too crazy about it. My price point is mid 30s.

Mid 30's buys you plenty of fast! Especially if you are look second hand. If I had mid 30's to spend hand had to buy new I'd be saving for a few more months. A little more would get me in a new Mustang GT or a Camaro SS and that is serious power right there! If I had to buy now and had to buy new I think I would be hopping over to the Subaru dealership for a loaded WRX.

The Dutch Texan I am definitely thinking about muscle. More specifically Camaro. But I am not too crazy about the view inside. Especially when trying to reverse or parallel park. Unfortunately, I live in Northern California. So it is a common problem. I am definitely thinking about Subaru WRX, especially with the premium package. The breaks are better. But I have seen and read a lot of complaints about the rev hang on it. Part of me wants to try another car. But part of me wants to upgrade from my GTI. I love the fun factor with the car. Plus it was so practical. I guess if I am already looking at mid 30s. Saving a little more to get an R, isn’t so bad. I might have answered my own question. Ha. Anyways, just wanted to say great video man. I will definitely check out your other reviews.

How do you rev match in an automatic? For that you need a clutch....a real clutch (ie third pedal).

Rev matching is the act of bringing engine rpm up to match the rotation of the input shaft no matter the method used. I understand, you like manuals. But those pesky automatics are doing everything we could do with manuals. Better and more consistently.

The Dual Clutch and engine had been around for a decent time. I don’t own one but there are plenty of owners saying they have had no problems. It helps if you have remaining warranty on the car you are getting. Any sign of trouble? The warranty takes care of it and you unload the car after it’s fixed. You shouldn’t have problems below 100k miles if you follow the service on the car and don’t drive like a hoon all the time.

There’s a video of a guy with a stage 2 golf R with a six speed manual pulling 3.7 second 0 to 60 times. So there is literally no point to get the DSG besides the exhaust farts.

Sure, but then there is the fact that the DCT will be consistent every single time. There is no missing gears. Manual might be more fun, but you’ll beat that manual guy 99% of the time with the same amount of hp.

I still got the Grand Marquis yes, it no longer is a clean car though, the hail got to it and 100K highway miles battered the front end pretty badly. It still runs like a top though. It’ll probably be replaced in the next few years. And yes, only car shows and car reviews, the vlogs got boring and even when I do one now no one watches them. The same can be said for most of the cars and coffee videos really, but those I enjoy making.
