I bought a 2018 CR-V LX and I’m loving it to the fullest. Plenty of power, room, and features. It has superior handling. The sound system is powerful. The only thing I can wish for is the CD player. The 2018 doesn’t have CD players, but I can do without since most of my music is listened via Bluetooth. This is a 💯 knockout. Way to go HONDA 💪🏽.

Great review. Leased a '17 EX-L in Deep Olive Metallic. The review was spot on. The car is sometimes so quiet at low speeds that it seems that the engine is not running. One thing he failed to mention is the ACC when engaged in low speed traffic will bring the car to a complete and if the gas pedal is not engaged for about 15 seconds, there is a "stopped" information message that comes up on the main screen in front of the driver. If the car ahead begins to move, the cruise control picks up on that and the car returns to the control status. Pressing the "resume button or just a light touch on the accelerator will do the same thing. I am 74 and this car is easy for my creaky old bones to get in and out of, very comfortable with the heated seats and I truly love the adjustable lumbar support for my tired old back. I have driven this car for extended times - over 3 hours at a stretch with no discomfort or problems. I test drove nearly every other compact SUV and dollar for dollar the CRV came out on top. Price was negotiated down to $28K with a $291 through with my local Honda Dealer (Stirling Honda) and I am well pleased with everything. I may be a bit biased as this is my 3rd CRV - 2002, 2009, 2017 and they have all been virtually bullet proof with nothing more required except routine maintenance. Couldn't ask for more!

That windscreen wiper - headlight feature, I noticed that my 2015 BMW 330 did that. Although it is also possible that the dark rain clouds here made the environment darker and the auto-lights switched on.

for the vibration test the older 2015-2016 vibrated hard when the vehicle was at a stoplight or stop sign, to simulate the vibration the car has to be in drive with your foot on the brake not in park mode if its anything like the 2015 and 2016 it should vibrate then. I have a 2015 and have since had honda fix the issue but thats how you can test for it.

First, THANK YOU for doing a review on the non-Touring model. I am strongly considering the 2017 CRV to replace a 2010 Subaru Forester. I would love to hear your thoughts on the differences in features between the EX and EX-L (aside from leather) as I am weighing pros and cons, especially price. Thanks for the review; it was VERY helpful!
@GrapponeAutomotiveGroup7 жыл бұрын
Funny you mention that, I went from an 09' Forester to the 17' CR-V. Aside from leather, the differences between EX & EX-L are few. The EX-L adds two tweeters in the rear for a total of 8 speakers (same radio as EX), a power passenger seat, memory for the power drivers seat, an auto dimming rear view mirror and a power tailgate. In this trim you can opt for the Honda Satellite-Linked Navigation System ($1k) - keep in mind that the GPS in your smartphone is equal to or better (so long as you have a cell signal) and can be streamed to the headunit via Apple CarPlay/Android Auto. The EX is equipped with heated front seats, a moonroof, smart access, Honda Sensing, Display Audio headunit and so much more - I absolutely love mine! I am also averaging 30-33MPG per tank of gas with ECON on, A/C off most of the time in a 50/50 mix of city/hwy driving. Let me know if I can help you out with any other questions!

Thanks for suggesting me to watch this video! I really liked it! Definitely, helps me in choosing an SUV that I would want by narrowing down my choice of preferred cars from 3 to 2 - Honda CR-V and Mazda CX-5. I agree that this year's model does look more handsome than last year's, a friend of mine also showed me a picture of the Honda CR-V 2018 and that looked even better. Considering a number of features that you get in an EX model I am certainly impressed, it definitely distinguishes itself as a better utilitarian as compared to the CX-5. However, CX-5 does have a more elegant look, with the more luxurious feel and better driving and handling performance. Although CX-5 can't match the EX model with the lesser number of features it offers for its CX-5 Touring model.

Geoff G, it seems to depend on what type of device you are using. CarPlay/Android Auto will show album artwork, as will Pandora. It is possible that something such as an iPod or MP3 player will also, but for that I can't comment since I didn't try it. Maybe an owner can though.

Would really like to know the difference between the hr-v and the cr-v and which would you buy?
@GrapponeAutomotiveGroup8 жыл бұрын
The HR-V is a compact crossover based on the Honda Fit platform whereas the CR-V is a small crossover based on the Honda Civic platform. Both offer available AWD, come with CVT transmissions and can carry 5 people. The CR-V is definitely the larger, more mature of the two. It also comes in more trim levels with more standard and optional equipment. The HR-V gets better fuel mileage and is easier to maneuver and park in tight places. I recommend checking them both out back to back to determine which fits your needs, budget and personality best!

My 2008 Infiniti G35 would lower the fan speed while listening for voice commands. That feature has been around for years in brands other than Honda. My 2017 Ridgeline does it, too. Wiper-activated headlights have also been around for many years in various brands. Automatic high beams have been around since 1952 when they first appeared in Cadillacs and Oldsmobiles. Although Honda has made improvements the last several years, they've historically been somewhat behind the technology curve - instead choosing to keep things simple and reliable. Unfortunately, their implementation of some "cutting edge" technology hasn't worked out so well. I've enjoyed the seven Hondas I've owned including my current 2017 Ridgeline RTL-E, but some of the higher-end tech doesn't work as well as it should. The previous CEO of Honda really hurt the company. I'd still rather buy a Honda than any other brand, but they're not what they used to be while their competition has made significant improvements.

I've been hearing complaints about wind and road noise, how is yours doing?
@GrapponeAutomotiveGroup7 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't say it's enough to complain about, but it is is something Honda could work on. 98% of the time I have music going, but when I don't there is some wind noise around the B pillars around 60 MPH, that changes to mirror noise around 70. It is not obnoxiously loud, just there. As for road noise, it's pretty well in check. There is tire noise, but again not enough to be bothersome to me. I'm sure different tires will have an effect on this, I have the stock Bridgestones currently but will be switching to dedicated winter tires soon.
@308_Negra_Arroyo_Lane7 жыл бұрын
Thanks. I'm less concerned about wind noise but really hate the drone of tire noise. Interestingly, don't they all come with active noise cancellation? Doesn't it work?
@GrapponeAutomotiveGroup7 жыл бұрын
Yes, all the CR-Vs come with ANC now. To my knowledge it is working (you can't turn it off to test), like I mentioned the tire noise isn't loud. I would recommend taking one out for a good drive and listening for yourself if the road noise that makes it into the cabin is bothersome to you - I think you will be pleasantly surprised.

@omgitsme4358 жыл бұрын
In general they'll wear out around the same time regardless. And if you notice the front going first, people also rotate the tires. It's not like this car is a 300HP RWD. But AWD does help cornering grip and less hassle off straight line when you need the power. AWD also carries a higher resale later, people just like having it, if not needed anyway

Im a little bit concerned about the 1.5 liter engine's long term reliability especially in Colorado.

Over all it's been a good car-really nice re-design. But keep in mind I've had mine for only 3wks now. There is a slight lag on exceleration-but is good once it goes beyond that initial 1 or 2 sec. My only complaint at this time-BLACK interior!! It shows EVERYTHING and I am driven mad by it. I have the EX-L 4 WD. It is an easy car to drive, responsive, nice road feed back. AND it's pretty quiet cabin-the one thing which caused me to buy a Toyota 4 Runner back in 2006 over Honda. I have one question; Does anyone know if there is a digital read out on MPH Fuel consumption? So far I can't find one.
@GrapponeAutomotiveGroup7 жыл бұрын
The i-MID (display in your gauges) has an instantaneous "bar graph" style MPG readout that you can scroll to. That screen also shows the average MPG since your last fill up.
@dogwomanhere7 жыл бұрын
My battery died-a mystery to all. Anyway....Once re-charged the bar graph showed up(default settings). All is good. Thank you!

Why u Don’t get the touring??
@GrapponeAutomotiveGroup6 жыл бұрын
Around here the EX-L is the most popular trim level. Often times you find KZbin reviewers only using the top trim levels, which can be frustrating and I didn't want to cause that.
@N0teaga6 жыл бұрын
Grappone Automotive Group Is a big difference between those 2 the touring & the exl?
@GrapponeAutomotiveGroup6 жыл бұрын
Not huge. The Touring comes with full led headlights, standard navigation (optional on EX-L) with a subwoofer, slightly different wheels, chrome trim on the exterior, rain sensing wipers and a foot activated power tailgate. This is all in addition to the heated power leather seats, moon roof, touchscreen audio, dual-zone climate control, auto-dimming rear view mirror and more that is included on the EX-L.
@N0teaga6 жыл бұрын
Grappone Automotive Basically just touring it isn’t worth it I was was thinking getting the Touring u can add the navigation Foot power tailgate to the exl the only thing is the music I think is the big different

ok so crazy question. i thought the ride was supposed to be smoother in this new model. nobody saying anything about that. i want to feel less bumps in the road. anybody notice a difference?
@GrapponeAutomotiveGroup7 жыл бұрын
I actually liked the CR-V so much that about a month ago I went and got one for my daily driver. I love it. It does have a comfortable smooth ride, feels very solid and has good reflexes (for an suv). I am also averaging between 30-33 MPG per tank of gas - couldn't be happier!

Very nice vehicle. The engine seems small in my opinion and the CVT transmission sort of sucks.
@GrapponeAutomotiveGroup8 жыл бұрын
I have to say I was really surprised with the power output and delivery of this little engine, the turbo really helps it out. While a CVT is definitely not my first, or second choice for a transmission it did handle this ute well.

Great review thanks very much for sharing! One minor complaint: On the video, please place the inset picture of the driver at the upper left or right corner, instead of the bottom right, we can't see the road as you are driving, which sort of defeats the purpose of the footage... :-)

Honda had to cut costs because of the volume knob and took out the CD player lol.

really cool looking car, with good price... Gray saloon looks not really good on a most ofa cars, but not with CR-V - its looks cool there

I was going to trade my 2014 LX in when the 2017 is available. Cons on my 2014 LX: No armrest, uncomfortable seats, no recline rear seats, not enough power. 2017 Cons: Complicate screen, ugly digital dash, turbo except LX (turbo would never last), 14 gal tank, not sure if the seats are larger and more comfortable, Pros: this video showed me the recline rear seats, better looking wheels than touring. same tail lights. However, unless there is major change where they offer 2.4 on all models, I may buy a RDX instead. I predicted that Honda shot themselves on the foot by limiting the engine option.
@stockjonebills8 жыл бұрын
I want a V6 too. Still I think for many people that wont matter and the turbo 4 will be fine for them. RDX is so ugly though.

Ford has been doing the wipers on lights on for a number of years. If Honda is just now getting to it then they are behind.

Test drove the new 2017 Honda crv why the hell did it feel like I was driving my 2010 Honda civic? Nice car and all but it was lacking a solid feel when I drove it. I thought it would be more exciting to drive it was just meh....

I have owned 3 generations of CR-V's and am looking closely at this one - BUT - I see no CD player or accessory available. WARNING: NO CD = NO SALE. Honda take notice.

virmico1 you are seeing accurately, there is no CD player in the 2017 CR-V.
@virmico18 жыл бұрын
According the the RIAA, 42 Million CD's were sold in the US in the first 6 months of 2016 so clearly buyers will care. It is a truly odd decision by Honda considering the demographic that buy's CR-V's runs older than say the average Civic buyer. A Honda accessory CD player is available for the all new Ridgeline. The Pilot has an accessory CD player available. The HR-V has a standard CD player. Having been a Honda owner since 2002, I can attest that Honda takes brand loyalty very seriously and no CD player is in fact a deal breaker for me and will send me to another brand. Unfortunately Grappone, you and Berlin City are my local dealerships.
@GrapponeAutomotiveGroup8 жыл бұрын
I'm sorry that you are bummed about this virmico1. I get it, I am swapping out stereo's on my older car (bringing it up to par) and one of the things I DID want was to have a CD player. If you like the size of the CR-V, how about a RAV-4 or Tucson? Even the Escape. Those all come with CD players and are excellent small SUVS. I have videos of all three actually. You say unfortunately we are one of your local dealerships - I'm sorry that you feel this way and hope that we can build a positive relationship in the future. In the meantime, thank you for watching our videos and for taking the time to comment on them!

Unfortunately this does happen. I have yet to find a backup camera that it doesn't occur in however, you should try marketing you idea - it could be a real winner!
