I've driven Toyotas for the last 35 yrs. I just bought a 2014 Sonata it's a great car I really love it. Lots of power, smooth ride, never going back to an SUV again.

I got this car a year ago I absolutely love this car would suggest you get one I’ve not gave me one issue put a set of tires on it keep the oil change also I recommend premium fuel

I bought a '17 Sonata SE two days ago. I know its odd but I prefer the plain-jane look of the SE over the Sport or Limited with all the chrome and flashy big wheels. I was driving a '16 Elantra SE which was a terrific car, not one problem and I regularly achieved 40+mpg. But I wanted a bigger more comfortable car and Sonata certainly meets those requirements. With incentives from Hyundai and my local dealer this new car cost me $17,000 plus sales tax. btw...I am aware of the 2.4 recalls for engine failure but since I'll most likely trade this car off in 2 or 3 yrs I'm just not that concerned about it.

I'm 6'4" and just bought a Sonata Sport, I have not driven a vehicle yet that I've fit better in other than a 2006 F250 crew cab...but thats a huge truck with a V10

How easy is it to get that battery out? Do you have to move a lot of parts, or is it just the plastic piece over the top? Also are there any special tools that I would need to remove it?

Plastic piece and a bolt it’s quite heavy but fairly easy to remove

I have a 2017 Hyundai Sonata SE. It has 38,000 miles on it and has been an okay vehicle. The trunk latch stuck shut on me and locked a few things I really needed in the trunk with no way of accessing except going to the dealer to fix it, which cost me money. The electronic gas pedal sensor went out causing an engine misfire and leaving me stranded on the side of the freeway, that was a fun one. And it also has a big chunk of paint missing from the front part of the roof, from what? No idea, looks like it was flaked off and I have seen a number of other Hyundai vehicles with paint chips just like it. So the paint isn’t the best, it’s thin and chips easily. It’s a big comfortable car that gets good gas mileage. The driving dynamics are numb, and it’s quite boring to drive. The GDI pump is LOUD on these cars, sounds like something is wrong with the engine but it’s just the pump. That is all. I will be looking elsewhere for my next car, Hyundai’s usually poop out between 70-90k miles

Nathaniel... No. This is one of my beefs with Hyundai. In both the elantra and the sonata, they force you to go up to the limited to get a choice of gray or black.

Actually, that is incorrect. They do offer a light grey interior for the SE models...but, it is a very light, which isn't great if you like a darker interior like me. But, again, there are two interior colors, grey and beige.

The very basic trim of the Sonata gets a basic radio with satellite radio standard. The SE upgrades to the 7 inch touchscreen with CarPlay & Android Auto.

HORRIBLE gas mileage on the 2016 Sonata. Miles per gallon numbers as advertised by Hyundai are FALSE, not even close to actual mpg. We average around 21-22 mpg in the suburbs (not what we would consider "city" driving). Advertised mpg is 28 mpg. Same with long-distance / highway driving; we have never topped 28 mpg. We actually have better mileage on a 15-year-old Camry.

check your tire pressure. Inflate to 36 to 38 psi. Drive with a light foot. I've only been thru my first tank of gas but my '17 Sonata SE achieved 35 calculated mpg(computer said 35.6) in combined city/highway driving.

+Doug N We appreciate your advice. The tire pressure display shows 35-36 psi, so we will adjust. Thank you! Definitely light foot drivers here. Now averaging 20-21 mpg according to the dashboard display for city driving (no highway this past month). Recently heard part of a televised report on national (US) news about a high number of consumer complaints from buyers being mislead about the Sonata '16's fuel efficiency; some other consumers are also not achieving anywhere near 26-28 mpg. We need to track down that report and take it from there. Glad you are obtaining a much higher, more efficient mpg w/ your 2017, and hope you have the technology package which is rad!

FlameTrees ...I believe there was a tech bulletin about reflashing the ECM ON '15 & '16 Sonata. Check with your dealer to see if your car has this update. I've read on Hyundai forums that the update improved mpg and overall smoothness of operation.
