So, I had a few folks post here or to me directly asking why I said Valpolicella. I had a segment in the video where I talked about it but a 9 minute wine review is a bit longer than what I typically shoot for when posting so I clipped it. With that said, here is the summary of what I cut: 1. One of the websites I found in doing research to try to find an exact breakdown specifically listed Valpolicella as the grape used. Which is not a thing that I'm aware of... 🤔 2. Valpolicella is a region within Veneto that is known for it's red blends and preparation of those blends. 3. The grapes I mentioned (Corvina, Corvinone, Molinara, and Rondinella) are typical of Veneto and are used in Valpolicella blends from that area. 4. It could be possible that they used a Valpolicella-style blend but it wasn't from that area because it was labeled as an IGT instead of a DOC. 5. I thought it was funny that I even found an online wine retailer that had point 1 as a thing on their site, which is how it even got mentioned in the first place. Lesson for today: If I'm not going to include the extra minutes of ranting why a website is incorrect in the video and make the video too long, then don't even include a reference in the video to begin with.

I shot a wine pairing video with my wife the other day. We tried to see if it would work as a longform video that we could extract into a podcast. We both chose a wine to pair with our dish and made each dish from scratch. In the end, it was WAY too long and would have taken me a week to edit everything. We marked it a failure but learned from it. We might try again at some point, but I need to figure out how to condense it into something manageable.

Amarone is just so dang good though...

True that. And for as good as it is many of them are reasonably priced. Not Wine on the Dime range, but not bad.

Nice review...I love these so called "baby Amarone" wines from Verona and the Veneto as you get a quality appasimiento wine at a great value. If you see Allegrini Palazzo della Torre at costoc/specs/total wine you should grab a bottle. Similar profile and I think even higher quality. Costco has had it for 15 a bottle near me, which is a steal for such a good wine...

Oh yeah! I added it to my list! I'm actually getting a steak this weekend so I can pair this wine (or one like it). I love Amarone so it's not surprising to me that I would like these too.

Isn’t Valpolicella a region? Also, aren’t the grapes you’ve mentioned grown in the area of Valpolicella? PS: gotta make sure that that globlet hold is high enough to warm the juice. Great job.

So, I had a segment that I cut that talks about why I said Valpolicella in that way. I didn't want the video to be too long but I guess that just added to the confusion. I'll put the gist of that in a pinned post here. As for holding cupping the bowl, that was because of two factors: 1) The wine was right at 60 degrees F so it wasn't warm enough to be past the desired serving range (actually it was a little under) and 2) I had just finished working over 10 hours straight for my day job and didn't care if I held it like a heathen.
