Well done review of the AMG C63 S Coupe. The muscular wheel arches along with the wider stance and beautiful rear end make this car a real stunner. On the street people won't be able to take their eyes off it. Add in the the incredible sounds from the performance exhaust and you have to spend north of $130-K to find a vehicle that will look and sound as cool as this coupe. Big improvement in styling over the AMG C63 Sedan.

More of a BMW guy but this Coupe is absolutely beautiful, espeically in this color package. Excluding that damn ipad in the dash that everyone is doing now it's almost perfect. God I wish they wouldn't the dash could look so much better.

I have an Audi RS5 (4.2L V8) and the previous C63 AMG. I was in the market for an M4 and drove a couple of them, but when I drove the C63 S coupe there was no doubt in my decision. I had to have the C63 S, and I bought it. No regrets. I’m my view it’s a better car than the M4.

I think this car is amazing....but to touch on your question at the end...I've driven every single C63 since they first came out and every year they get more and more refined...better....more responsive and more efficient, not to even mention better looking with great spec options. With that said...what keeps them in a "hot-rod" fashion IS the exhaust note. They (AMG) are in a league of their own and other performance sectors of other companies are always trying to "catch up" or "beat" the AMG...at least that what it feels like to me. MB_AMG are always ahead of the curve and are worth every single penny in my opinion. What really separates the AMG from the RS or S or M models for me is the steering and exhaust notes....just on another level. Great review.

Is anyone as paradigm shifting shocked that MB FINALLY widened the rear quarters on it's M3/M4 rival that's not a 6 figure limited production black series? My biggest gripe with C class AMG has been the lack of rear fenders which not only offers the car almost no traction (C63 507 edition =507hp with 255 wide rear tires LOL... e46 M3 was running 255 with 333 hp!) as well as a aesthetically weak looking car. I would argue many buyers pick up this category of car for that bulldog stance / width in conjunction with all the aggressive body work. Finally they have joined BMW M and Audi RS by offering a wide body for the production vehicle in this class, big step MB, bravo.

That noise the engine makes when a transmission upshifts is music. I'd buy the car just for that. I could care less if the M4, ATS-V, AMG C63 S are considered halo cars are not. They all look great and are fast. Great review as always.

These coupes have been devised by the car companies for the single guys, to aid them in finding a lady and then having kids. Then they'll be back in the show room right around the time the lease ends, looking at the sedan version. Like any good sales department, they keep you coming back.

I would choose this (C63) over: -M4 (no V8) -ATSV. (No V8) -RCF (too heavy, needs another 25-50hp) -RS5 (OLD DESIGN) Perfect car M4 with C63 motor and RS5 AWD...

Agreed, trading in my G37 for the new Merc. Not that they are comparable...but before this I would have stepped up to a BMW or Audi...but not after seeing the 2017 C43/C63. Plus the AMG cones with the kitchen sink standard...nice change of pace from zee Germans.

i wouldnt think this, the cts v, audi rs5, or the m4 are halo cars.....think these companies are making them to satisfy the market of the niche these cars are aimed at, which is a pretty decent sized market......now if were talking about the bmw i8s, amg gt, and even the failed cadillac xlr, i would think those would be more of the halos.....what i love about the c63s and the m4s are their usability being you could use them as your daily driver, track day tire shredder, or outlaw between traffic lights, which is why i wouldnt think them to be the halo types

Great video. For some reason, I feel like the new C Class doesn't suit having a hot version. The C63 has always seemed a bit childish (in a good way) to me, but the new C class is very refined and understated. I dunno, I know I'm in the minority with that view.

The C63 AMG S and it's competitors seem to be moving from hot-rod versions to halo cars. The have crept up in price and definitely performance. Heck, I'd say the C63, ATS, RC-F, and M4 offer the best driving experiences for these manufacturers. One question for you George...and I know this isn't a fair one. What has better driving dynamics? What car would you take based purely on driving enjoyment, C63 AMG S or 997.2 Carrera S?

Let's qualify it a bit: If we're talking purely on driving dynamics and the 997.2 in question is a manual - I would have to go with the Porsche. Now here's the twist . . . if we're going by design . . . I would have to go with the C63s Coupe. The images and pictures don't do this car justice - it is THAT different.

The sedan's taillights look good on the base car, but are not quite agressive enough for the AMG version imo. They could be, but they didn't make the rear design quite as good as with the S Class, even though their tail lights are really similar.
