2017 Mercedes-Benz SL450 Test Drive and Review

The Mercedes SL came out in 1955, and the 2017 SL450 retractable hardtop convertible we are reviewing this week is the sixth generation version. For 2017, there are a number of changes from last year’s SL400.
For starters, it has a revised and much prettier front-end fascia, it gets 34-more horses, it is 300-pounds lighter due primarily to the use of aluminum. Perhaps the biggest news is the SL now has Dynamic Driving Modes to enhance performance and handling.
Under the hood, the SL450 has a 3-liter Bi-turbo V6 that puts out an impressive 362-horses and produces 369 lb-ft of torque. It comes with a new 9-speed automatic transmission that can be shifted from paddles on the steering wheel.
The SL450 is a technological marvel of a car. It's also awesome as a sports car, it’s awesome as a luxury coupe, and it is as quiet as any convertible I have ever been in, thanks to heavy insulation and a double-floor inside the car.
MSRP on this car as equipped is $108,385, which I think is reasonable considering the amazing ride and performance of this car.

Behind the shifter, are four buttons: dynamic on the left and a blank button to the right of it. I’ve seen it be the button that lets the “active body control” shocks raise the car for very rough roads, driveway incline entrances and speed bumps. Is that still available?
