Good review. I'm not sure how it is north of the border but in the US Nissan is offering HUGE incentives. No other automaker is even close on SUVs. I bought a 17 pathfinder because it gets the job done at more than $7000 less and than comparably equipped Toyota and Honda products. Not the prettiest SUV but looks good overall (subjective for sure). Like the channel.

Thanks, Garrick. Can't argue with a killer incentive! Thanks for writing. Sounds like we're both of the same opinion on this car - not a looker or a performer but capable and competitively priced. Good to have you watching.

gstein 615 there's a reason why they offer so much incentive to get you to purchase their vehicles. Srsly tho nissan is so irrelevant

U are wrong on a few counts (family wheels) first the pathfinder tows more looks good and better then the highlander Toyota screwed up the back end of that car and the third row is too small ,it's between the traverse and the pathfinder for the best 2 SUV ,Mazda 9, is cramped in the front 2 seats and small third row and can't tow and the Ford Explorer they screwed up the front end and made it look like the land rover and u don't want turbos to tow with , the traverse is probably the best one but the safely features are not as good as the pathfinder and can't tow as much. The pilot with that push button transmission is stupid and looks like a female minivan so the pathfinder wins sorry

My wife and I bought a 2017 pathfinder , used . It was a dealer vehicle . So far , our Pathfinder is working for us just Great . We only drive it around the weekends , going to church , buying groceries and so on . We are really happy with our purchase . Just recently , we drove from Dallas to Los Angeles in our Pathfinder and mileage was fantastic . She runs very good , solid , and quiet . We change the oil and filter every 3 months . We maintain it very just as our Sentra , 2017 . Thank you for your time

We are considering the Pathfinder or the Highlander. Decided again the Pilot after a test drive-we were disappointed with the interior finishes and the minivan feel. Ive heard a lot of complaints that the seats are uncomfortable in the pathfinder- did you find this to be an issue? I like that the SL comes with features the XLE is missing like heated steering wheel, birds eye camera, parking sensors and auto start but I would be willing to trade these for a reliable vehicle! Thanks

I found the seats to be middle of the pack. Not terrible but not great either. The Pathfinder felt quite dated (and, as you put it, minivanish) compared to the Highlander. While it does offer some more bling and more space, the Highlander would certainly be my choice for our family.

There is no reason why anyone should be buying anything made by Nissan. This whole list is Nissan and Chrysler products... www.consumerreports.org/car-reliability-owner-satisfaction/7-cars-owners-regret-buying/ Stitching on the steering wheel looks like it came from Frankenstein. Thank you for an honest review!

Dear sir I have question for you . We have Sentra and the Pathfinder . Both have over 50,000 miles . How often should we change the transmission oil in both . Thank you

If you would to rate the 3 row crossovers/ suv your reviewed, what is your top 3? 1. Cx9 2. Honda Pilot 3. Highlander?
@FamilyWheels
@FamilyWheels 7 жыл бұрын
Top three favourites we've reviewed so far: Volvo XC90, Mazda CX-9, Toyota Highlander. All have their advantages and downsides.
@mirad77
@mirad77 7 жыл бұрын
I can see the CX-9 and Highlander ( Sorento, Santa Fe, Atlas,Traverse....), but XC-90 isn't in the same class as the other two. That would be the luxury class like the three rows from Mercedes, BMW, Acura, Lexus, Infiniti, Buick, Cadillac, Audi............. You are comparing apples to oranges here.
@FamilyWheels
@FamilyWheels 7 жыл бұрын
Joe didn't specify class. He just asked about our favourite 3 row SUVs. And to be honest, the XC90 isn't far off price-wise compared to a top trim CX-9 or Highlander. Volvo's done a good job of keeping its starting price somewhere between the luxury brands and lower end vehicles.
@mirad77
@mirad77 7 жыл бұрын
He gave you 3 SUVs. Also XC-90 base model is most of the time still higher than the top trim from of the likes of CX-9. You did a great review and gave your best thought which I like. That was just my side comment about the vehicle class.....

The economy was a big surprise in this SUV for us, too.Why did you decide on the Pathfinder over its competitors?

the ford explorer was a good option BUT i knew i was going to pay more for gasoline with that one and the interior of the xlt is not that nice,the traverse we simply dont like the design and finally the toyota highlander is overpriced in my opinion. the exterior of our pathfinder is black and the interior is beige/cream and it looks nice more premium i would say we also like the backup camera and center screen alot. overall we got more features with the Pathfinder! i would recommended it for sure!

Well done. Been eyeing up the Highlander and Pilot in this year. Thanks for helping me make the decision to buy another Pathfinder. Ive owned a 2004 for the past 10 years and loved it. But time to upgrade. The tow capacity is the main selling point as I tow a travel trailer and a utility trailer quite often. That and the price point is as much as 10 thousand difference between the three at this time. Thanks for the review. CBC EH?

We bought a 2015 pathfinder which did have some of the "shuddering" issues, Nissan fixed it and so far we haven't had any more problems. Pretty spot on review, it's just a bland car, but gets us and our two kids around pretty good. We got just below the platinum that still had the DVD player in the back which so far works and the kids enjoy. The 3rd row is nice to have for a few extra passengers from time to time, otherwise the extra cargo space comes in handy as well. We also liked the true 4x4 option, we live on a dead-end gravel road that never gets plowed and we get heavy snow sometimes. It's my wife's daily driver and she usually gets between 19-21, sometimes 22 MPG.

really good review. I thought exatly same as you when I owned 2013 pathfinder. Really comfortable and spacious SUV but a bit boring to drive. I would definately recommend this suv for 40s with 2~3 kids.

Love my 2017! Don't believe the haters, the crossover Pathfinder is fantastic! Nissan should really trim their car lineup and focus on crossovers, SUV's and trucks! Agree on the wood! My S is the base model, so it came with piano black. Piano black looks WAY better than the fake wood! Seriously, what % of 3-row SUV buyers hard-core off-road? Personally, buying used, I found it to be the best value with no drawbacks that mattered to me.

Hey, you mentioned somewhere below that the Highlander would be your choice for family vehicle. Would you say the same thing if the Highlander was over $17k more than the Pathfinder? Long story short, I found a 2017 Pathfinder Platinum with 12,000kms for $35k vs. a 2017 Highlander Limited for $52k with 6,000kms. Thoughts?
@FamilyWheels
@FamilyWheels 6 жыл бұрын
It's hard to argue with the bottom dollar. That's a big differential! But I still believe the Highlander is the far better vehicle in terms of ride comfort, fit and finish, looks, reliability and resale. It just comes down to whether you want to front the extra coin. Let me know what you decide on. I'm curious!
