Comments about the ice for those curious: -Inside of West Edmonton Mall -There is a giant skylight right above the ice -Brutally hot to play on even in winter time and at night -The ice is mainly skated on by figure skaters, some public skating, other power skating lessons for kids, and if you're there around closing time you might catch some old timers pick up hockey. -I would pick any other rink in edmonton before this ice to play actual hockey on. There are many divots, and its real soft to skate on. But I can see why they would host the tournament here. -Aprrox 10-15 feet behind the glass there is a netting to shield shoppers There is a second upper level of the mall that can look down into the ice and standing anywhere in the netting when adult hockey is being played is actually dangerous. Ive seen slapshots go off the cross bar, flying into the second level and hitting mall shoppers. Technically slapshots are 'banned' on that surface for this reason.
