@@ramosity I have... I've been singing and doing music full time up until 2018. Proper rest is key. Arnel is pushing too much air, while Steve Perry uses a very different voice technique. Arnel blows his power out way too soon. He leaves nothing in the tank for finishing the song out with the notes that climb. What I'm trying to say is he uses poor technique for this type of music and song. Right now I'm 58 years old and would absolutely be able to do the vocal job better than Arnel and stay on pitch. Without being able to stay on pitch the singing is worthless to the listener.

Arnel's voice does not sound good on this vid of the RRHOF. He sounds like he"s strained it by singing too much IMHO. I just know he certainly doesn't sound like he normally does, and Steve Perry didn't either towards the very end of being with Journey. I heard Steve and someone else I can't remember, talking about that on the documentary. I'm sorry but it's been a while and I don't remember the specific documentary. @@luisdanielanton82 thank you, and you are quite welcome. I also want to add that Steve Perry has nothing but respect for Arnel as well. Some people don't like Arnel Pineda simply because he's NOT Steve Perry. I find that unfair. He's not trying to replace Steve. He said he'd willingly quit if an agreement was made and Steve wanted to come back, but Steve doesn't want that anyway. I respect them both, but I admit that I liked Journey much better with Steve Perry back in the day when they were an EXTREMELY popular band. On the flip side some of the band members complained that Steve was controlling. If you learn their history though, you see how much Steve Perry actually did for Journey and how popular he made the band. E5C4P377... Way better you say? Ha! Now that's a joke. Even at Arnels age Perry could not do the same, and you say he could do "better". Just go check the videos of Steve with a band called eagles (or something like that) that Steve Perry is no where near Arnel Pineda's voice.

perry was 45 when ftlosm came out and a couple years older for the last journey album. Perrys Voice was better than Arnel will ever be even then and when arnel became a Journey member at age 40 his voice sucked. Dont take my word for it , listen to the original songs and then listen to how they change to support arnel. They change ALOT for him and he changes how songs go because he cant hold a "Perry Note" for the life of him. You can also just gauge the success they had with and without perry. The writing is on the wall as it has always been. You are a fool and an obvious arnel fanboy to even entertain he is remotely close to perry.. Arnel STILL needs to learn the words of the songs he karaokes to. After all these years he dont even respect the music enough to learn it. He is a side show and when they "tour" with him it always the journey staples that came long before him.. They rarely IF AT ALL do the new shit they wrote for him to sing. People long for Perry because he is the best. Not just best singer journey had but the best PERIOD!

I think part of it is, Deen Castronovo was doing backup vocals with Arnel during these high and sustained notes. And without that it puts more strain on Arnel’s voice.
