I’m not knocking anyone’s talent here, as they are both fine singers and performers. But it just irks me that the Mayerling Affair keeps being retold as some romantic historical event rather than was if was. A syphilitic rich royal middle aged politician (who made his wife sterile) convinced one of his mistresses, who was a teenager to commit suicide with him. I mean can we get one critical look at these events? And yeh _The Illusionist_ was just as bad in this regard.
