I received the OTA update notice for my 2015 SRT 392 and had read that you did not have to keep your car running but had to leave it "ON".(not running) That's what I did and it worked for me.

I notice from some of the comments that there is some confusion regarding this update and also some wrong information was presented in the video. 1) Some of the features added by this update such as the drag and drop of the icons were not present 2015 and earlier vehicles. This feature was introduced in 2016. So if you are driving a Charger or Challenger from 2015 as an example, then this update will add that feature for you. If you already have a 2016+ model year vehicle, some of the "new features" are things that you already have. 2) The Siri Eyes Free functionality as demonstrated in the video is NOT how you use this feature. In the video, the demonstration showed the use of Siri from the iPhone and the resulting audio was then heard through the uConnect system. It has always worked this way and has absolutely nothing to do with the uConnect update. This is simply using Siri from your iPhone, not through the uConnect system. The correct way to use Siri Eyes Free from the uConnect system is to press AND HOLD the voice button on your steering wheel until you here the tone and then say your command to Siri. Just for clarification, if you simply tap the voice command button and release it you are then speaking to the uConnect system and can issue your usual voice commands for the uConnect system. If you press and hold the button down until you hear the tone, you are then speaking to Siri and can issue Siri commands such as "Send a text message to Stan" or "Siri, what is the weather forecast for today", etc. Note that Siri Eyes Free was a feature that first became available with a software update in April of 2016. 3) One feature not discussed in the video or listed in the change log displayed on the vehicle is the addition of Sirius XM Tune Start on the 8.4A system. I'm not sure, but this feature may have already been available on the 8.4AN. To enable Tune Start you will need to go into the Sirus XM settings and enable the tune start feature by checking the box for this feature. Once enabled, Tune Start works like this: For any music stations in your presets, the uConnect system will be recording those stations in the background. Now, when you switch to another one of your presets, rather than starting playback from in the middle of a song uConnect will "rewind" to the start of the song so that you always get the opportunity to hear the entire song. A couple of notes: First, when you first start the car, it will not have any previous recording time so you won't be able to go back to the start of song until the car has been running a few minutes. Second, if you change to a preset and the song begins from the start, then switch away from that preset and come back to it again while the same song is still playing it will NOT start that song from the beginning again. However, you can still "rewind" to the start of that song using this next feature: I've also noticed what appears to be another new feature. You have always been able to hit the "Replay button" for Sirius XM radio and then pause, rewind, and fast forward much like a DVR for TV. But what seems to be new (at least I never noticed it before) is that if you tap the rewind button rather than holding it down it will automatically jump to the start of the current song. Tap it twice and it will jump to the start of the previous song. In other words, it behaves like a CD player or the controls on a lot of media players. Naturally, you can then tap the fast forward button to skip forward again as well. Combined with Tune Start this is an awesome feature for skipping around and finding songs on your Sirius XM presets! 4) One other minor change that I have noticed is that the voice prompts are improved and sound more natural and a little less robotic. As an owner of a 2015 Dodge Charger with a uConnect 8.4A system, I have to really commend Dodge and uConnect for providing an update that not only provides security updates and bug fixes but backports some of the major features from newer model years back to our systems.

Great info! there is one other thing that changed that you missed and I love. You can now set the volume of the voice assist chicks voice independently. At least on my 2016 ram, the voice was a set volume level and was loud when the radio volume was very quiet, now when you push the voice button and the woman's voice is talking you can use the volume buttons/knob to set her voice volume. Once it goes back to your music/phonecall etc it will return to the "music" volume. Next time you press the voice button her voice will still be at the level it was set to last time. So if you want her voice to always be at 12 but you are listening to music at 22 it will automatically switch as needed now.

Hawkeytown - You have always been able to adjust the volume levels separately for the Navigation voice and have it louder or softer than the radio volume. To do that you just wait until the Navigation voice is actively speaking - and then quickly turn the volume knob...while she is speaking! Then her voice will always be at that new volume, until you change her again. It is easy to increase her volume -for example- if you are on a road with rough noisy pavement, and turn her back down when the road gets smoother. Her volume is adjustable independant from the radio volume. That is how it works on my 2013 Dodge Journey with the 8.4 Uconnect.

July 23, 2020. - my 2015 jeep overland , 28000 miles - downloaded the UCONNECT to upgrade . had to do it 3x - still did not fully complete the upgrade. not only did it not upgrade - my jeep wouldn't start after that. the wipers began , a noise started . had to tow it to jeep dealer. - told I needed a new radio ( $ 1100- 1500 ). all from trying to upgrade the system using the jeep UCONNECT. not very happy with 1- jeep. 2 UCONNECT. still waiting for an answer. be careful -- this did NOT work for me. ~ JDS/CT

The update broke the "Random" feature when playing from an SD-Card. It used to play randomly in all folders, but now the only songs played are songs within that folder. Also, when an album ended in regular play-mode, the next album would play, but now it repeats the same album.

I have a 2014 Town & Country Van. Bought off of my dad when he passed. Question is: What caused the screen (where radio controls, back up camera etc) to go black. It is a Uconnect 430/430N. I saw something on line that said it needed to updated. I updated and everything worked until the van was turned off. I took to the dealer yesterday and told them that unconnect needed to update. They called me back and said it wasn't the uconnect but we needed a new radio ($900 approx.) My question is this the EVIC screen (where I reset mileage after a trip) shows radio off. What would cause this to show up all of a sudden when it wasn't there before. Also lights were lit around the screen and now they aren't

Be very careful with these upgrades for the crappy Uconnect system. We actually went ahead and got the update from Chrysler and uploaded it to my wife’s Journey. The GPS maps stopped loading.because it needed to be updated . Now the GPS will only talk to us in French and Spanish. Neither Garmin nor Chrysler has been able to help us with this.

Did this wipe out anyone else's settings??? I lost ALL my saved radio stations including FM & SXM, as well as any other customization I had made, such as driving lights, etc. That in it's own is horrible that someone thought coding the update like this was acceptable. Worse yet, is that there was no warning or indication that everything would be lost. I still would have updated in hopes that it fixes the buggy USB interface from locking up the entire radio.

I have the 2014 JGC Overland with the 8.4AN. HOW can I get Android Auto....NOBODY can answer this question. Does the new headunit fit perfectly into my 2014?? I can answer this question. You can NOT update your 2014 for android auto or carplay. The 2018's have a 4th generation 8.4 but I was told they are assigned codes specific to the vehicle at the factory to deter theft. I was told at my dealer there is no way to make the 4th generation radios work with the electronics installed in vehicles with the 3rd generation radios.

I have a 2015 Jeep Cherokee and recently received the uconnect update. But I've noticed that when my iphone is connected to the system via usb there are some features that are not working. For example, I can no longer choose a song via the touchscreen. If I choose a song on the touchscreen the system does not respond. I have to choose music via my phone. Also, while a song is playing I cannot slide the icon at the top to rewind or fast forward a track. Strangely enough I CAN still operate the rewind a fast forward while listening to podcasts. Anyone else out there notice any hiccups? Maybe I'm missing something?

It's not update 8.4. The Uconnect 8.4 is the name of the screen, with the 8.4 referring to the diagonal screen size.

Sir I disagree if you can read and follow instructions it's easy. Load two files identified by your vin number on a flash drive. Plug it in and uconnect recognizes it and does what it needs to do.

Can not update my 2017 Challenger Hellcat. There are 2. When I download the 2 they come in WinZip format. After that you have to extract it and send to a flash drive. Then take to the car and plug the drive to the hub. Guess what DOES NOT WORK!!!!!
