Not sure if this is common knowledge. But if you use degreaser, iron-x or whatever. If it dries out - Just reapply more of that product to the same spot. Its difficult to remove something with water once dried, so applying more of the same product re-activates it, and then you can rinse it off

Usually I'll spray it onto a wet vehicle, and usually don't bother agitating it. I typically only do a few sprays per panel, and it gets most off. Anything I may miss comes off with clay. As per the outgassing of the paint, you are good to polish immediately. In the body shop, they usually will wet sand some, or at least "buff down" the clear. Usually it comes out looking lackluster, but it's perfectly safe to do. Only thing to avoid is putting protection on the paint, since that is what creates the barrier from the surface and air. So correct away, if you wish!

when i was a little kid I used to wash my dads car (hes a car guy too but just a 'limited' edition ford focus) a lot and try not to cringe but all we did was use a bucket with water and carsoap and wash the car with a NORMAL SPONGE!! afterwards after rinsing the car we dried it of with a chamois leather cloth (if its the correct translation) watching your videos made us at least a bit more careful. Now (still the focus :) he uses snowfoam and occasionally waxes the car :D

Matt - Great vlogs as always though I categorise 37 mins as a summary version :). I'm planning to do a detail not dissimilar to the one shown in your current vlog series. This will likely involve a wash / decon day 1 followed by polishing / waxing on day 2. Do you have any thoughts / advice about leaving a decontaminated car overnight outside and what action, if any, you might suggest take before polishing? Should the car be hosed down, or even washed again? I'm just conscious that it will pick 'stuff' up from lying outside and I wouldn't want to 'polish-in' whatever may have settled on the car overnight. Thanks in advance for any advice from you, or equally fellow OGers :)
@ObsessedGarage7 жыл бұрын
All you need to do is wipe it down with something like CarPro eraser before you start polishing. I wouldn't overthink it.

I've asked this to someone else before but they never answered. Say you weren't doing a paint Correction, wouldn't a nano skin pad spinning and picking up debris actual damage the paint more because it's not acting like clay and "engulfing" the debris?
@ObsessedGarage7 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't call it damage. I think that is a little strong. It basic marring, but yes, you are correct. Although washing the car prior should get rid of anything nasty.

@delicatedetailing15657 жыл бұрын
Removing a coating is not much harder than removing your sealant or wax, once you start getting the defects out you know the coating isnt there anymore, and doesn't take much longer( with that being said i have only stripped some car pro coatings) Also coatings do not last forever as many are over marketed and making unrealistic claims. There are 1 year coatings available that marketed towards to the car enthusiast like you and me making it possible to do maintenance corrections and then just recoat which would be ideal for daily drivers who daily through the winter to guarantee you are not carrying around years of salt and tar.. With that being said if the coating did its job you shouldn't need to maintenance correct anyway. First guy ive ever seen use a gas leaf blower to dry, id be a little hesitant as debris may get through filter and then be shot at the vehicle, not to mention all the surrounding dust and debris on the ground being blown around and back onto the vehicle. But all in all great videos keep up the hard work!
