amazing car. I work with volvo and i have seen rich people come in their range rover, Cayenne and Mercedes amg and drop their jaws when they see the xc90 r design or the incription. The only downside to all new volvos is the maximum on 4 cylinders. T5 R.I.P

Hi. My 2017 XC90 Inscription is the non-hybrid. Modern 4 cylinder, it generates 316hp and has the turbocharger and supercharger. I just picked it up Sat. Believe me, it goes like a rocket. When the supercharger came on, it was like warp drive and I was on the highway at over 80mph in seconds. I am like, whoaaaa! Gonna get a ticket. Of course if you put your foot in it all the time, the gas mileage is lower, like with every car. It has several driving modes, Eco, Comfort and High Performance. In High Performance I could hear the engine and exhaust at a stop. Comfort is what I use it in most and it is quite, but powerful. The electric should have plenty of p

It all depends on the security in the software. I think Volvo did a pretty good job. But, yeah, that was my fear when I bought my XC90 Inscription. All cars are going that way, so we have to get used to it. I still would like to have a 1970 Chevy Nova in storage just in case of EMP or something, maybe I could make it in an old car. LOL!

Hi. I just got my 2017 XC90 loaded Inscription this weekend. I had the one of last 2016 XC90 orders in production, and since it was at the end of production, they made me a 2017 instead. The carpet was not blonde, it was the black, and the rims were different than I ordered, but she looks great. So I'm like - OKAY, I'll take it. Believe me, it has PLENTY of power. I got on the highway to take her home and stepped in it and when it switched between turbocharger to supercharger it launched, smooth, like a rocket on rails. Crazy! I was well over 80mph in a couple of seconds. I am so going to get a ticket if I don't watch it. It may be a 4 cylinder, but this is not a 20th century 4 cylinder. This is modern technology with the turbocharger and supercharger. My first every new car in my life and I am in love. Bought it for the safety commuting, love it for the power, and the tech. +A Matt you're welcome. when the outside temp is under 95, and you are at a stop, the engine turns off to save fuel. then when you touch the accelerator it turns on. It is a little different, but easy to adjust to. Just touch the fas, she starts rilling, then accelerate.

Ever see an suv hit a deer? the deer flies in the air and hits the top of the windshield, crushing the frame inward. volvo is literally steel. volvo also has collision avoidance and it also senses when you are about to be rear ended, bracing you for impact. literally this the most safe car if you have kids (which I do) .. trust me, i really researched this! i wanted thr LR4.

The (A) behind the e-brake has nothing to do with the auto stop start feature fyi... that is controlled through the settings window. The (A) button is the Auto Brake Hold Assist button, which keeps the brakes applied at lights, on hills, etc so you don't need to keep your foot on the brake at lights and in traffic. Thats why its encapsulated by the brackets which mimic the Brake logo...

I am sorry but the A button next to the parking brake button, is not auto start stop. It is autohold for hill start and such. The auto stop feature you have to turn off in the electronic menu.🙂

The "auto start stop" is actually a auto brake hold for when your stoped and u let your foot off the brake it holds the brake for you

There are 2 different things that have similar icons. on the center console is the auto brake. When you depress the button and turn it on, you can let off the break when you stop and the XC90 will keep it braked till you press the gas. There is an auto stop engine feature that you can turn on through the Sensus screen. When on and the temperature is below a certain degrees, the engine will automatically turn off when you are at a stop. When you let off the brake it will start again.

On Swede Speed forum and other places I read about a few battery issues, a panoramic roof leak, rear hatch leak, etc. so far I have not had a problem. I did get a system

It does have the option of a HUD. You can choose that. I have it. Displays the posted speed limits, zones, construction signs and my speed. When using navigation it displays path and individual turn path with the number of lanes, etc. You all really need to go to you tube and look at the vids about the XC90 and systems.

Starts a roughly $45K. Go to the Volvo site and do a build, see the options in packages and it calculates the total. I'd never bought a new car in my life and I saved up for a good down payment and went all out. I did not get the adjustable air suspension though. Mine was $70K. But you don't need to spend that much. The thing besides how good looking it is, is that it is all about safety.

I got one of the first in USA apparently in July. I ordered a 2016 at the cutoff and they gave me a 2017. My dealer in AZ had a 2017 Momentum but Volvo has it on hold. weren't even letting them order. There were just a few scattered at dealers in US. The demand was overwhelming. :)

My 2017 Pilot Assist allows you to use it at higher speeds than the 2016. It will steer, brake, etc. but you must lightly keep hand on the wheel. It is to assist the driver. If it doesn't feel you it will put a message on the screen in front of you saying to apply steering. It doesn't want drivers to do other things for long and not pay attention. Another cool thing was when we tested lane departure. I went over both sides several times and it gave me a steaming coffee cup image asking me if I needed to tske a break. :)

I have used Pilot Assist with no cars in front of me and it works just fine. Adaptive cruise control does not need a car to follow. If I set it for a speed and the number of car lengths I want between me and any cars, and there are no cars, then it goes the speed I have set. I'd zi come up on a car it slows down, etc.

James Ju | I myself preferred the turbo I-6 they had before, but I've got to admit that turbocharged AND supercharged I-4 is a beast. Plus the turbo only version is still more powerful than the old I-6.

I totally agree, not a fan on 2.0L engine, I’m used to driving 6 cylinder vehicles, and it would be an adjustment to go to a turbo 4 cylinder, the 6 cylinder should just be an option

So one thing Volvo is dropping the ball on is the names used for the various drive trains. I am still confused as to which one has the electric motors in the back. XC90 T6 R-Design... seriously, I have been following this vehicle because I think it looks amazing, but I still have not figured out the alphabet soup of badging they have going on. Don't get me started on this inscription stuff, what the hell does that mean.

Just go to the Volvo site and do an XC90 build. It breaks it out by style and packages Momentum is a styling package that includes a certain interior and option of rims, paint colors, seat colors, exterior trim, etc. Inscription has the high end interior with choices of paint, rims, Bowers and Wilkins stereo, etc. R-Design is a specific sport package interior, body style and paint. Then there are the tech packages you can get. T6 is a 7 seate is a Then the engines.

accidentally hit done. okay, T6 is the Drive- power train supercharged, turbocharged with drive modes. 316 hp, 295 lb/ft of torque, all new automatic 8 speed gear tonic transmission. The T8 is the Twin Engine plug in hybrid. It runs on gas or electric. 313hp will get 17 Mikes of electric driving on a full charge. Actually the Bowers and Wilkins sound system was available on all 3 models of XC90, Momementum, RDESIGN and Inscription. B&W sound systems ate only available on Volvo, BMW and Maserati vehicles. :) Just go you tube and search XC90 engines or whatever and there are a ton of bids about them. Also Vida on Volvo' site under their media at the bottom of main page.

Mini and RR are not competing in the same segment as BMW. BMW buying Volvo does no make sense as they want to be in the same segment. There needs to be a lot o shared platforms and technology between the brands to create synergy. That would either merge the two brands or turn Volvo into a cheaper, high volume brand below BMW.
