I found John Witcombe's presentation to be of great interest. About a year ago I came across the 1897 edition of Uriah Smith's book, "Daniel and the Revelation" and began reading it. This book is truly fascinating! This book also includes 'solid, eternal truth for this time.' "...The great, essential questions which God would have presented to the people are found in Daniel and the Revelation . There is found solid, eternal truth for this time. Everyone needs the light and information it contains." 1Ms 61 "The interest in Daniel and the Revelation is to continue as long as probationary time shall last. God used the author of this book as a channel through which to communicate light to direct minds to the truth. Shall we not appreciate this light, which points us to the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, our King? 1Ms 63

Does EGW's endorsement of Uriah Smith's Daniel and Revelation include those sections more recently removed from the original by the GC that expressed Smith's antitrinitarianism?

No where did she say “except Smith’s thoughts on God...”

The 1897 version is what is on the EGW CD ROM. You will not find anything in that book that expressed any of Smiths view on the Godhead. Either way that should not be what is important. What is important is the fact that she endorsed that book very strongly and that it would be a book that would be of interest until the probationary time comes to its close. That all who enter into the ministry would do well to read and understand this book. That this book deals with all the essential truths for this time.

@@greatimagenyc5013 Said >Uriah Smith “The Scriptures nowhere speak of Christ as a created being, but on the contrary plainly state that he was begotten of the Father. (See remarks on Rev. 3:14, where it is shown that Christ is not a created being.) But while as the Son he does not possess a co-eternity of past existence with the Father, the beginning of his existence, as the begotten of the Father, antedates the entire work of creation, in relation to which he stands as joint creator with God. John 1:3; Heb. 1:2” - Uriah Smith, 1882, Daniel and the Revelation, p. 430

@@JudyAnn17 ‗The Scriptures nowhere speak of Christ as a created being, but on the contrary plainly state that he was begotten of the Father. John 1:3; Heb 1:2.‖ (U. Smith, Thoughts on the Book of Daniel and the Revelation, p. 430. 1882) He then said of John 5:26, Philippians 2:9 and Hebrews 1:8 ―These testimonies show that Christ is now an object of worship equally with the Father; but they do not prove that with him he holds an eternity of past existence.‘ (Ibid) Smith, whose theology on the Godhead was unquestioned, and whose book Daniel and Revelation was a standard work that stood alongside The Great Controversy as a book that EGW spoke of as being full of present truth and containing doctrine that needed to be made known, was till the day he dies, staunchly non-trinitarian. Yes, he had no time for those who considered Christ as a created being. But would have opposed the current fundamental belief of our church which states the Son as co-eternal and co-eval with the Father. Smith, and White, would have been aghast at the current teaching of our Biblical Research Institute which teaches the Father/Son paradigm as metaphorical. And both would have also opposed the current fundamental belief on the trinity.
