One of the first jobs I ever had was body work at a paint shop. There's not a lot of people who can do work on this level, no matter what you pay. It takes a real skill and tons of experience. For those knocking the owners for not doing it themselves, you have to realize, no one can compete on this level all on their own. You need masters in each aspect in order to put together the best, and owners are the ones with the vision and connections to make it happen.

Guess the 34 Ford pickup owner doesn't understand that you earn no praise or deserve any either when you pay someone else to design and build your ride. The truck is sweet but she may as well have said she bought it because that's pretty much what she did anyway.
@61Vibes6 жыл бұрын
The gal who owns the truck said she acquired the truck from family and wanted it restored. She wanted a blue truck with a tan interior, she wanted pouches for her phone on the door panels, and a hood. The truck came with a quick change rear end... in the bed..., clearly this truck will haul nothing butt ass. The interview of the gal with the 1934 ford contains more information than the sum of her words. There is an an unspoken duality to her story. This entire car show seems to have a creepy vibe that escapes explanation on a KZbin comment. Did anyone in these interviews mention Nitrous Oxide? ...or do they let that go unspoken of while competing for the $10,000 Ridler Award? The Autorama appears to be a cult of like minded people to me. The Ridler Award is not the prize here.... something else is going on.

I used to work with a guy who was a judge for this show. His specialty wasn't this category but the original stock. The level in which they verify parts and how they can tell by the smallest details what is original and what is not is unreal. He can look at an antenna and if the original has a little dimple in the base, that means is was supplied by the Cleveland shop and is between 1952 and 1954 for example. If it has a triangle mark then it came from Pittsburgh. No shit, that is the level these guys operate on. The only way you can get a 100 point car is to have bought it original, drove it straight into storage with all the paperwork and tags, then break it out 50 years later. He's only seen one 100 point car in his 30 years doing this. A 92-95 point car is rare. So if you do find that car that was put away and never driven, you'd have some serious bucks.

I am glad that 57 Chevy won. Finally somebody had the guts to knock off all the ugly off a 57 Chevy and turn it into a stunning car. This is the only 57 Chevy that I like. I used to build cars like these...I sacrificed a lot of time building these cars for other people and made it to the great 8 one time while working for a company.... While it was gratifying it was also depressing..... A Fabricator can spend 10 to 15 hrs a day for months on end ...years go by to build custom parts for these cars and never once get mentioned for doing so in one of these interviews. And while I did learn a lot ,looking back I will never do it again I will only build cars for myself that can be driven. Trailer queen’s and cars that only run for 60 seconds at a time so the exhaust system doesn’t blue ...fuck that!
