This is amazing, the engineering explanations behind this Do It Yourself (DIY) project brings home a lot of unknowns. Greatly appreciate the extensive reference to tools and what is being used and the favoring of working with tools used on the road not only when riding, but also when at home.

Ameet Shreemal Hello Ameet, I have had the bike now for 3 weeks. Absolutely love the bike. I am still in the break in period for the 1st 600 miles. I have had the bike up to 70 but only had ot there for about 10 seconds then brought it back down, which is what they recommend in the break in period, bring the rpm's up and bring it back down. Have not had the bike on gravel roads yet, as soon as i have the 600 mile service done i will be doing a 60 mile gravel road trip up to Crown King, AZ. I will let you know after that trip, which might be this Sunday. The bike is light and nimble, low torch in 1st 3 gears which will be great off road and is very smooth for a single cylinder engine. One of the main reasons I went with this bike, is the ability to turn off ABS when going off road. Hope this helps, let me know if you have any more questions. Cheers!

Hello Jenifer, I really enjoy your demonstration of the new parts for the BMW G310 gs I am a new rider and I looked at this particular bike to be the first bike I really like the changes you made in the suspension system since this would be my first bike for slow speed drills and the versatility since I live in the city of Chicago my state's primary Prairie, but I do see myself doing other things I'm 6 foot tall and 300 pounds. If you have any suggestions for me to be greatly appreciated. PS since I haven't purchased the bike yet, what would be the cost for the total set up as an estimated cost I probably would have to change the handlebars so I could stand once again thank you for great presentation

I’m considering several options for my next bike and at the creaky old age of 60 need something a bit smaller and lighter now; I think this has sold me on the BMW, not least because I’m an engineer and like you love to fettle and personalise my bikes 👍🏻. Need to say also well done to Jenifer for an excellent walk through and commentary, what a star and lovely example she is for women everywhere.

This was awesome, I loved every minute of the video, so well executed and well explained. This is very close to what I'd do to my bike, perhaps I'd leave the top case mount and add a bigger windscreen, a tank/fairing crash bar and a couple Denali lights on it as well. I've heard the little GS's headlight is kind of loose, which makes the light beam vibrate a lot, so has Jenifer fixed her headlight more firmly so it won't jiggle around? Thank you all so much for such an instructive video, I had a great time watching it.

Felipe: You have some great ideas and some that I have thought about myself. I don't know what's she has done with the light yet, if anything. @chrisredfield32406 жыл бұрын
SoloRide ZX wheels and suspension are the main area's. The stock is nice for highway use. The different springs fitted for off road would make less enjoyable riding on road. And unless going off road spoked wheel are heavy expensive tubed disadvantage. They could have probably done 2 versions. Like the ktm 690 smc. And 690r
@zzxx33mh6 жыл бұрын
Chris Hart true said..we know that the 310 is meant directly for take share from Asian market in this catogery,..yes;the main parts are what you mention, it's most depend on the type of terrain..if you love this mini 'GS' then most of these mods are essential..the conversion is awesome,it's much expensive but that the way it's if you seeking Adventure,to stand alone,not feeling shy when park beside other Big Brothers..! Can Jenny make videos about basic bike service,..and how do..like replace tyre..She explain well..?!
@chrisredfield32406 жыл бұрын
SoloRide ZX i would defiantly get the wheels. And sump guard. The exhaust is hard to justify. And suspension is always such a compromise for different situations i don't very often bother.
@jmo27526 жыл бұрын
Hi Chris - actually the Rally-Raid/Tractive suspension makes the on-road ride and handling much better too, as the damping is far better controlled and the revised [stiffer] spring rates mean it doesn't blow though all of it's travel quite so quickly. The Rally-Raid spoked wheels are available tubed and also tubeless too. See their web-shop for more information.
@aj_bastidas6 жыл бұрын
The upgrade is great and I appreciate the work done but I think that spend money on that bike and also on the Rally Raid kit is too much... For a 300cc for occasionally off road use or for beginners on ADV bikes I think Kawasaki Versys 300X will be a better option.
@thejohnnerparty6 жыл бұрын
Very, very good presentation. I'd say this upgrade is essential if you want to do any adventure riding. Thanks a bunch. …. One question: You're adding 4" of spring when you replace the spacer. Does that mean you are gaining the total gap space between the coil winding in that 4" space as additional travel? I'm just guessing, maybe 2" of additional travel or not? Oh, but maybe it depends on tube length. Hum.
@jmo27526 жыл бұрын
Hi John - although the new spring is longer, the overall travel is dictated by the length of the damper rod inside the fork, which remains the OEM part. What the new spring gives you is more compliance throughout the range with less chance of coil-binding, and the linear rate is more accurately controlled by the damping throughout the whole length of the stroke.

@chrisredfield32406 жыл бұрын
Lawman FL the g310gs has much more use than a wr250. Wr250 is just a bicycle with an engine. This bike has wide tyres stability weather protection. Luggage carrying ability. Carries more fuel. Has more features space and power.
@jmo27526 жыл бұрын
Different bikes suit different people's needs - there is room for everything. The WR250R is a great bike, and can be made surprisingly comfortable/capable as a longer-distance dual-sport machine with a few choice accessories and upgrades. That said, the 310GS is a very good [better] on-road machine, as well as pretty handy off-road with the right modifications too. Check out Blancolirio's Moab video on KZbin too.

Lawman FL i fully agree this bike cost near the price of the f800gs with these parts. A bike that already has better suspension high level exhaust and wire wheels stock. I would have thought a wr250 would have cost more than this both new standard off the floor. Wr250r $7k ish
