Davon Rodriguez cmon, this ensemble sound is absolutely amazing this early in the season, but I don’t think they have a strong chance of jumping much higher than these corps that have been at the top of their game for the past two decades. but i could be completely wrong, i guess we’ll see later on in the season

Ryland Cook they’re on fire this season. But crown is a beast, blue devils are still up there, bluecoats has a monstrous sound again, cavies are back in town, Santa Clara is killing it, the entire top 6 is on fire this season, and we haven’t even mentioned cadets who apparently have a good program, and it’s the blueknights 60th year show. Making the top five might as well be medalling this season

The reason this music is working is the kids can pull emotion from it, like old school corps used to be all about. It's why their last 2 years have been a quick ascent. Because the fans and kids can get into the show, it will be top 6 no doubt. They are VERY clean already. This reminds me 2000-2003 when they came out of nowhere and got really good.

I think they have a shot at top 5. HOWEVER, that would automatically mean that one of BD, SCV, Crown, Cavaliers, or Coats gets knocked out of the top 5. Everyone has been pushing the envelope to such an amazing degree and raising the bar higher and higher. In my opinion, the majority of the top corps have reached or even surpassed expectations every year. With this in mind, who falls out of the top 5? BD? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA SCV? They have been a top 5 fixture for the last half decade plus, and they were sooooooooo good last year that it's hard to imagine them taking THAT big a step back. Crown? As long as that hornline stays what it is, they will always have a shot at winning the whole thing. They took SIXTH in percussion in 2013 and took the championship. Sure their guard isn't what it's been, but again it's just hard to imagine, but possible if the hornline dips. Cavies? Maybe the most likely, only because they haven't proven they can stay this competitive in the present era. Even so, they were awfully strong last year. Coats? If they keep jazz running their kids TO DEATH and breaking their bodies, then yeah I could see it. With how ridiculous the physical demand was on each kid, it's no surprise that they just lost steam as the year went on. You could convince me of either Cavaliers or Bluecoats. Even so, I would think it's more likely that both of them are even stronger than last year, and one or both of them seriously contend for top 3 or the championship. In other words, I think Boston can do it, they just better have the visual package to back up their music.

Glad they performed in my hometown. Really nice musicianship. It was interesting to see the reaction to those in the audience that know drum corps and those probably listening for the first time. I think DCI should do a study on what the latter group would pull them in to a drum corps shown (maybe, more identification with the music, etc).

Your drumline will be top 3 because Colin is that good and will beat crown in drums. Your visual program is going to have to take a big step forward along with the visual design in order to be crown or be in top 4. Brass wise you will be better, but Gino hornlines are always only as good as the talent they have. When he has top talent they may be the best on the field. When it is mediocre they end up in 4th or 5th place in brass. I would $500.00 that Blue Devils, Crown, Vanguard and Blue Coats all have more brass talent than Boston by a good margin. The Cavaliers may even have a edge with talent as well. Talent wise that makes the brass line in about 6th. Gino can't do better than 4th brass wise with that talent and that is with an outstanding show design. Visual presentation and Vis performance along with CG are the wild card. DCI now cares more about how your visual show is designed more so than they do if it is clean or difficult. The blue devils are a clear case in point on that. Easiest visual show demands for their hornline and drumline year in and year out and power blocks yet somehow because of the presentation they get high scores. If Boston throws down a great show design and the talent they have in brass plays up to their full potential they will finish 4th, but the drumline will carry them there. Colin is one guy who can take mediocre drum talent and make it great. That drumline will be top 3.
