2018 CF Moto CForce 500 HO Review

My first impressions of the 2018 CF Moto CForce 500 HO ATV. Bike was purchased in March 2019 and now has 750 km on it. Mostly trail riding and some light mud playing. I have been very pleased with the bike's performance thus far. I did upgrade to 27" STI Out&Back AT tires to get a little extra ground clearance and better mud traction. Bike comes well equipped with 2500 lb winch, 25" Mud Lite tires on 12" alloy rims, LED lights, plastic skid plates, aluminum front bumber, 2" hitch receiver, mirrors and hand guards.

Time for an overdue update on the Cforce 500 performance. Overall, the bike has been great and I am pleased with it's ability. I have just over 1200 kms on it now. I did have two problematic issues that caused me some stress though. In Aug. 2019 I experienced an overheating issue. I was about 40 km from home (alone) when the temp gauge bar started flashing. I managed to work it home with short runs of a few kms and stopping to let it cool down or splash water on from a creek or water hole along the trail. Dealer diagnosed as bad water seal in the water pump and replaced it (water pump) under warranty. Then, in September I blew the drive belt when I jammed the bike between a rock and a stump on a fairly technical trail. Fortunately, this time, I was with another rider and he was able to tow me back to our vehicles, about 10 kms. CFMoto wouldn't cover replacement under warranty because it is a "wearable" part like brakes or air filter. Dealer replaced belt with Gaetz brand at a discount price but I still paid labour. I was "reminded" to use low gear under load to save wear on the belt. Otherwise, the bike has performed great and I'm really glad I up-sized to the 27" tires...I rarely bottom out on the trails unless it is really rough. I would recommend this bike based on it's ability, style, and capability. The 5 yr warranty is a plus. I plan to do a winter video very soon!

Did you require a lift for the 27s?

Hi. No, I didn't require a lift or wheel spacers for these 27'' tires and they have never rubbed on me. As an update...I love these tires...I've never had any problems with them and they've always gotten me out of any spots I got into. As far as wear...I only put about 500 kms on them but they are still in great shape. Of course I do mostly dirt trail and mud riding...very little hard surface/pavement.

@@malkiemoose6543 I've locally run into a lot of clearance issues on the stock 25s that my 08 Grizzly on 27s has never had. Good to hear the 500 can handle the 27s. Time to upgrade!

Hey there, what bag do you have on the front rack?

It's listed as an ATV rear seat bag from Princess Auto. It was about $150. It's a polyester bag with nylon straps to attach to the racks. It's quite light and durable but after a few hundred kms of use two of the nylon straps have torn off. Not a big deal because I just use bungee cord or another nylon strap to tie it down.
