The great days were when Sammy battled Steve Kinser for championships. Steve will always be the king with 20 WoO titles, but Sammy won I think 2 WoO titles back in the early 80's and I think 1 title in the 90's. The world of outlaws used to show up with anywhere from 24-30+ cars at every show plus the local guys that would come run the Outlaws and it there would be upwards of 50 cars on any given night. Kauffman, Wolfgang, Doty, Hewitt, Sammy and Jeff Swindell, Chuck Amati, Ron Shuman, Kenny Jacobs, Mark, Randy and Steve Kinser, Rick Ferkel, Lee Osbourne, Scruffy Allen, Danny Smith(there were 2- D. Smiths), Brent Kaeding, Rick Ungar, Sleepy Tripp, Shane Carson, Bobby Davis Jr. , Bentlely Warren, Fred Linder Jimmy Sills and thats just a random group that I could remember. That was long, long ago when they all pretty much pulled open trailers with station wagons, pickup trucks, sedans. I remember Sammy was driving the Nance Chassis house car and they had the first enclosed trailer that I ever saw a sprint car in. Butler Speedway in lower Michigan is the only track in MI that runs sprint cars every Saturday night and they usually have 12-15 cars every week. Sometimes more depending on what the MI based 360 cars are running. Most of the guys that run locally are 360 cars or 410 cars with an iron block w/ Brodix heads. Only a few of the locals have all aluminum 410's and they dominate as you can imagine. I still go and watch the Outlaws run when they make their 1 and only Michigan appearance each year but I am old school and I get to the track way early and sit at the top but NOT at an outlaw show. I do not care for the ticket you purchase having an assigned seat attached to it. I have tickets at the Little 500 that are that way. Ive had them for years and they are up top. I know I am old and out of touch with the modern world but If I get a chance to go to a show at the last minute I will not go if I cannot atleast be in the top 4 rows. Now they show up with 10-14 cars and the cost is so crazy only about 8 or so local guys come and support the show. I am afraid that sprint car racing is slowly but surely being consumed by the cost to run a 410 cu in sprinter. I dont think I will see the end of the 410's but I bet they dont make it past 2040-2050. A Gearte, Wesmar, Fisher, Kistler, you name it 410 sprint car motor will set you back from $30k-$55k. Its probably more than that now. I just know that when I was 12 years old (1980) we were camping at Butler and some of the drivers camped right at the track back then. It was a 2 day show and I was sitting on a right rear tire that Keith Kauffman had just got done grooving and siping. I was listening to the guys talk about racing and Keith was talking about running a midget a couple of week prior and I asked him "what is the difference between running a midget and a sprint car?" Keith looked up at me and with a great big smile said, "A midget goes where you want but a sprint car goes where IT WANTS!! you just kinda AIM a sprint car" he said. THATS GOLD JERRY! GOLD!

This is what Simon was pissed about in the post-race interview? He clearly knows how to check up when someone gets position on him. He did it on the second lap of the race. But popping off to Sammy during the interview is the closest he'll ever come to a camera, probably.

Every body needs to go race motocross once you get under someone it's your line if the person on the outside won't back of that's on them
@dustypilgrimmedia84236 жыл бұрын
I like racing not demolition derbies. If you actively cause contact your the person at greater fault. Landon should have known his opponents better and how they drive so as to not squeeze Sammy but if he always gives up the line drivers will take advantage of it. It's not a sportscar race there is no time to get back the position if you give up the line that easily so the fault was on them both for being fools but Sammy was active in causing the crash Simon was passive. In my mind everything is fair until contact is made. Contact was made so send them both to the tail for the crash for all I care. It is far too frequent this happens with Sammy though. We need Wolfgang back to teach him another lesson about those antics. Its a race not a demolition derby. and if you want to fight your age won't protect you much longer, someone will blow a fuse.

No shock that Sammy and 2018 self-entitled millennials don't mesh. Lol. Watch it back. Sammy had the line, he was half way past the kid already. He gave up the bottom, kid has to lift or move more. You can imagine my shock and dismay that "Landon Simon" was involved in yet another yellow on the next lap, running dead last. You know you are watching real talent when you see that! Then some other hack puts it into the wall doing who knows what. But yeah, booooo Sammy!!! Seriously these nerds have no business driving a race car of any kind. Be thankful that you can still roll the thing into the trailer on 4 wheels and go home. Drivers with actual talent and experience have sh*t to attend to.

There is no bigger asshole in racing than Slammin Sammy. Yeah, Landon wasn’t exactly up to snuff, no idea who he is, Sammy hit him with his RR into his LF, that was on Sammy. To be a fan of Sammy’s, you’re obviously a hypocrite. Because if everyone raced as Sammy does, there’d be no one left. And no I’m no millennial, just not a fan of people who wreck others and blame them. A simple look up of Sammy’s antics and you’ll see he’s Tony Stewart’s Uncle from another mother.

Can't say Sammy is a bad driver. He drove right around that guy to take the lead and then totally checked out. Bad driving is the driver he had the "incident" with spinning himself out by driving it way too deep in to the turn. Yea...
@Brandon5799 Жыл бұрын
Gotta love the “know it alls” who think they know where his nickname came from lol. Slammin comes from him running the burm his entire career as he showed by pulling off the pass on the outside and walking away. He’s raced people hard and gives what he takes. From racing the Kinser’s his whole career he doesn’t take crap. The Kinser clan doesn’t have all the WoO championships by racing clean…far from it.

Old Slammin’ Sammy, living up to the nickname! Always a bridesmaid, never a bride. Kinser always came out on top. Never had respect for Sammy’s attitude. Helluva driver, crappy attitude. Not gonna lie, every time I watch him race, I wish him a flat tire! 😂🤣😂
@Brandon5799 Жыл бұрын
That’s not why he has the nickname…he got it for slamming his right rear into the burm running the high line his whole career. If you think any of the Kinser’s were clean drivers besides Kelly you’re not a race fan . I’ve personally seen Steve, Mark and Karl Kinser physically attack a driver at Eldoda at once. All over the flag man messing up a restart and Steve didn’t like getting his push bar tapped because of it. Karl and Mark came flying out on the track on an atv and the 3 attacked the guy still strapped in his car.
