Just purchased last week the Ford Explorer sport white platinum love it so far. I’m used to driving an older 2004 Durango so it’s taking some time to get used to all these features. Confused with the cap less gas cover . Haven’t filled up yet.

There isn't a cap, that's the cool thing. the door opens when you put the gas nozzle in the car and seals tight when you remove it. No cap to worry about.

Something that’s always forgotten about with the Sport Is it can still tow. The hitch is behind the plastic cover in the back, and it can haul up to 5,000 lbs. And has both 6 prong and 4 prong trailer plugs. I’ve towed with it numerous times, and it was a beast. Fuel economy dropped marginally of course, but I bet the tow rating is due to the transmission and the frame’s limit to what they can handle, not the engine. If you are towing up a hill in this thing, you still have power to pass other vehicles without much fuss.

Looking at a 2018 Sport next week... biggest question that I cannot find an answer to is does the Sport have autopark? Noticed the button on the platinum above the CD slot for this but don't see the button on the Sport.

I’m interested in the 2018 Ford Explorer platinum but after seeing your review on the sports with the 401-A makes me rethink what I want. What does the platinum have that the sport 401-A doesn’t have?

The biggest difference is the look, the Sport with have a darker look to it, where the Platinum with have the Satin Chrome Accents and upgraded leather interior.

Andre N Also has massage for the passenger as well. And has parking assist that the sport does not. However it does not have the sport tuned suspension and has more noticeable body roll vs the sport.

I purchased a 2018 Ford Explorer Sport Turbo with the tow package (hitch, plug ins, etc). I haul an 18' trailer with a side x side and two quads. On the left hand side lower portion of the dash there is a "tow" button. Since all the plug in wiring is there in the rear, do I need to install a brake controller? Wayne, Fernley, NV

A trailer brake controller would help you brake the trailer going down those steep hills. It will assist in saving your brakes but is not necessary.

+Long McArthur Great presentation. I really like the white exterior with blackened accents. Really makes the vehicle pop. I have a Rockwood Geo Pro G16BH trailer (just over 3000 lbs), so I'm assuming the towing capacity (5000 lbs?) combined with cargo weight shouldn't tax this Explorer Sport model? I've respected the Explorer over the years, but never thought of one as "sexy" until I saw this model (and color scheme). It looks like an Explorer, but I also noticed the front somewhat resembles a Range Rover, which is a compliment. Safe to say this model has vaulted to the top of my list for next SUV.

You shouldn't have any problems pulling that trailer especially with this 3.5L Ecoboost.

My sport doesn’t have anything you said it should on the side mirrors. Should I bring this up with the dealership? It’s a lower model sport but a sport non the less

Are you sure you don't have the XLT with the Sport Appearance Package? They can look similar, the Sport will have Black accents where the XLT Sport Appearance Package will have Magnetic Grey accents. If you email me your vin, I can look at it for you, [e-mail]
